Common Courtesy - or Mug ??

My long weekend has begun ... but this morning there were still a lot of those damned (?) Sky Mags that (I assume) needed to go out this week - so I took the lot out today in order to leave a "clean frame" for whoever 'does for me' on Saturday/Monday.

Was I right ? Was I good ? Was I a total sucker ?

(As it happened - I went well over - and got bl**dy soaked for my troubles )

I will help those that will help me, so it all depends who follows me, what I do for them. Theres some at our place that I woudl'nt take one bit of mail over my time for, and theres others for who I have gone that "extra mile" and would do again, because they've helped me.

No mate, you're not a mug, just showing an admirable degree of common courtesy & professionalism. I always do the same for my floater, as he does for me.

Interestingly, this Wednesday I returned to work after 3 weeks away, to find 180 Sky mags and 90% of this week's D2D's under my fitting - Guess what, my walk had been covered by a fast track Uni-wallah management trainee! I think that speaks volumes. I did think about reporting the little blighter to my DOM (we've all been told that not taking 1/6 D2D per day constitutes wilful delay), but I, like you have certain old fashioned moral values. The world might be a better place if there were a few more of us in charge at RM!

Don't let the buggers get you down - and don't descend t their level, you'll sleep better at night that way!

I always leave a clear frame - sky mags, catalogues, light bulbs, whatever.

during The Great Light Bulb Delivery I still left a clear frame - had to put out extra drop bags to do it - then, I went off on holiday for 1 week, and came back to 5 mail sacks of light bulbs stacked under my bench and a s**t load of catalogues.

one was not a happy camper


(and for the record, I had the light bulbs cleared within a week - extra drop bags again)

it seriously ticks me off when I've left a clear frame, and come back and some lazy f****r has basically just delivered the bare minimum of what they can get away with and I'm left with the fall out.

I put in as best an effort as I can before my day off because my rest day cover is a sound lad! Nothing worse coming onto 1 and a half days worth of delivery.

I'm a reserve, and while I often get put on one delivery for a week or longer ( and tend to work 6 days ), if I'm switched from pillar to post, then I try to make sure I take a fair share & then a little bit extra....I can't see the point of doing more, cos you might get shoved somewhere else, where your predecessor has done the same ( or all of it - muchos gracias amigo ), and on the third & final day of delivery extention, where none of it has been done ( b*stard whoreson of a bitch ) - and the manager doesn't give you any extra time to deliver it ( way to do your job for the last 2 days )

You should leave a clear frame... just don't expect you'll get it in return every time because chances are you won't!
