going onto half pay.
been into see the dom today, and was informed i,m due to drop down to half pay in about 2 months as then i will have been off for 6. i am currently awaiting knee replacement surgery, so i could be off another 3/4 months. but i was also told by a colleague, that when this happens, you can claim benefits from the dole that makes up the difference in your pay up to the full amount. does anyone know if this is correct.

It is based on what NI payments you have made.. You will receive a letter from payroll giving about a months notice of half pay. In that letter it will state how much, if any , SSP you will receive . It is paid in arrears into your normal RM pay. It will not be more than you would have got had RM not stopped paying half your wages.. It is different for everyone but if are FT you will be I expect still about £45-65 a week worse off under a flat bare week ( i.e NO allowances )...

cheers for that mate, is it paid automatically into your pay, or do you have to make a claim from the dwp ..(or the dole, as its known in the old money)

However, if you're on a lower rate of pay, you may just qualify for other benefits too. Housing Benefit, Council Tax Benefits are the main ones that spring to mind right now. Would also inform Working Tax Credits, especially if you're in receipt of this already

dont forget to use up your annual leave if you have any left..do this at the end of the 6 months..then you can carry on getting full pay for a few extra weeks

No you have to make a claim through dwp - Watch them though they seem to pigeon hole. Royal Mail should send you a letter saying that your stat sick pay period is due to end and will send you a form concerning ESA that you have to send to the job centre plus. The payment is seperate from your pay and is paid straight into your chosen bank acc. So you will receive half pay + ESA (mine was approx £70 a week paid every 2 weeks)easter bunny wrote:Paid direct into your RM pay...
