Helping the competition whilst s***ting on our own doorstep

Post by simonj12 »

Evidently the fastway courier franchise in the ng postcode has gone tits up and we've been delivering their parcels recently (although I haven't seen any of theirs for about a week now so they may be up and running again). I don't understand why we're not putting the boot in and steeling their customers instead of giving them an olive branch. I believe fastway offer budget delivery to customers who post alot to areas where they have a franchise ie a fastway depot but a higher price to areas they don't. It seems to me that RM letters are being forced to give away business by the regulator to the likes of TNT whilst pf are doing it voluntarily.

Also all of my post offices are claiming they are losing pf business to the likes of interWhateverParcelService.com because pf are giving a significantly better price to some internet parcel brokers than they are to the PO.

Seems crazy to me.

Right simplifying first paragraph of statement: Fastway have no franchised depot to deliver parcels to the ng postcode so fastway get pf contract to deliver parcels to ng postcode(or any other postcode that they do not have a franchise in). My question: why don't pf price them out of it and poach their customers so we can deliver direct?
Second paragraph: why are pf offering a better contract rate to intertnet parcel brokers (who have contracts with every parcel delivery co) than they do to POs who are in the RM group? Consequently one-off customers get a better price for sending a parcel through a broker which ends up getting collected and delivered through pf than they do if it gets taken to a post office and put in the pf network. My point being that the broker company is independant to the RM group and PO is part of it.
Not sure if I can explain in anymore detail.
