I would give myself blisters on my fingers if i had to type in everything what i thought of this job.

Starters would be though - how the f**k are you supposed to fit 5 lots of door to doors into half slots jammed with sky mags and other crap.

And how the f**k are you supposed to fit a 3.5 delivery into a timespan of 3 hrs.

..because there are enough arseholes in this business who will come in early,skip their meal relief and make the unmanageable...manageable.
The work plan isn't designed to work by itself....it's designed to allow for stupid people to make it work.

Yes...you don't seriously think job&finish was for our benefit do you?
What do you think lapsing/absorption is?....look at the people who do it regularly...in early,work through their break etc.
Absorption,on paper shouldn't work...who in their right mind would work faster just to get more work and lose jobs as a result?...but it does work and saves RM a fortune.....why does it work?....because there are enough stupid people etc.

I wouldn't go as far as to say "stupid" as thats undermining their intelligence . They just can't see the bigger picture yet.

Wait till the van sharing kicks in, you'll probably see the usual workers that come in early prepping up your frame so as s/he can get out the door quicker. When will it end?

It sowed the seeds..it watered them...fertilised them...now we get to reap the harvest...more work..less jobs.
J&F was a disaster from start to finish for us...i hated every minute of it.It screwed the job up in a way that it will probably never recover from.It turned us from Postmen and Postwomen to Delivery Officers..and i don't just mean the name.

There's a difference between being stupid, being naive and being institutionalised. To me, some of the posties seem so ingrained into the lifestyle, and so privately in love with the job, that they go the whole way, hence coming in early, pushing themselves to make sure everything works. You see, they come from the world where they're providing a service, not working for a business. The problem is these are the people who teach the newbies who become the next veterans who in turn teach the newbies and so on and so forth. It's easy to think, when you come into an office as a temp, that 'starting early' is the in thing and that it's not only perfectly acceptable but expected of you. And if you fall into that culture, then what exactly can you do if you know nothing else?

You give them too much credit taurus.
Starting early has nothing to do with "service" or being "in love" with the job...it's all about chasing time.
Before J&F no-one....not one single person started early in my office...so it isn't a throwback to some bygone age...it's stupidity and selfishness.
