cdv part time problem

Due to start cdv van sharing next month, been told at wtl that delivery span will be 4 hrs 30.
Now the problem is that i only work a 20 hr week 4 hrs a day, the options that i have been given is to increase my hours or work more hours over less days.
The reason i took this job was to be able to drop off and collect my children from school so don't want to change my hours or the way that i work, so can i stand my ground and if so what options would i be likely to be given ?, also due a re-pick as well as having to return to office at end of duty instead of finishing with last letter or pouching off (need to back home for 3pm but live 7 miles away from delivery office) it seems like everything i liked about the job has been stripped away, early finish gone!, working on my own gone!, paid extra for d2d gone. Would like to leave which is proberly the idea but not many jobs out there and at the moment still enjoy the job.

What are your current hours and what are the proposed new hours?
What is your current delivery span?

If you currently work 10-2, then a move to 9.30-2.30 might still leave you sufficient time at each end of the day, so you could increase your weekly hours to 25 or stay on 20 hours and work 4 days/week.

Royal Mail should look at any requests for family-friendly working patterns.

Did you have a 1 to 1 with management where you were supposed to explain what your needs and aspirations were?
Is your rep interested in any of this?
Can you stand your ground...on the increased hours....definitely....on working fewer days and more hours...yes but if a duty can't be found that suits your hours within your D.O. they may try to move you elsewhere.
This should all have been sorted during the revision process...some reps and managers are taking the piss.

My current hours are 10-2 and if i could would like to keep these, working 9.30-2.30 would be possible but could make things very tight on busy days cock-ups etc.

Not had 1 to 1 yet so hope to get more clarity when this happens, at the moment just trying to get some advice before this happens as it seems to be one size fits all with no thought to people on low hours.

You fit the duties around the aspirations not the other way round.
Ask your rep what the f**k he thinks he is doing.

This is the first wtl session that i have attended, told that all van sharing duties will be 4 hrs 30 so for us waysiders there will have to be an increase in our hours, hope to find out more in the next few weeks.

Why are you having wtl's on this,are you not having office/union meetings with the rep? That is where you should hear stuff 1st!

So if i wanted to stay and do the hours that i currently work would they have to accomodate this or try to make things as bad as possible for me.

Most of these meetings will have happened before i go in as i just go in to collect 1st bag also just come back from 2 weeks off so could have happened then i suppose but always seem to be last in the loop.
