I don't understand this at all.

They ask you to go in and work 5 hrs, you either do or you don't. I often do. If I go over I claim more.

Are your walks 5 hours? They must be if you get 2.5 hrs for doing half a walk, or are you including travelling time?

Last time I did half a walk I got 1:45 (our walks are 3.5 hrs) plus 5 mins travelling.

Boss told us around 2 weeks ago that we would only be getting 5hrs to do a round on o.t (2.5 hrs each) When he asked if anyone would still be interested in it no one was. Then the following week i got asked to do half a round for 4 hrs (what the norm was) he must of known i'd of said no otherwise.
Some of the others thought he was trying it on to save hours but reading this post then perhaps not ?!?

Anybody that does OT for Royal Mail at present rates must be either desperate, or mad.
I haven't done any overtime for years, learnt to live within my means, and closed one of a few doors to Royal Mail taking the piss out of me.

We get 6 hours per walk on OT in our office. If you are part time and come in on your day off you are exactly like the full timer. He also gets the 6 hours but like you, he also DOES NOT HAVE TO GO ON THE SORTING primary. You just throw the walk in, prep up, and f**k off out. If you have a good boss, he'll get some one to bring out your missorts to you as well, so you're not waiting around for them before going out.

You still have a missort run ours was scrapped a few months ago and i thought it was the same else where?

On a personal note, I think that an OVERTIME BAN is a weapon that we can use short of a strike. The only problem is the money grabbing sods who will work it regardless because they are living beyond their means, or have the mind set of 'I'll do anything for a good boss!'.
If every one stuck to their guns on this, then true extent of staff shortages for duties would be realised and it would cost RM more by having to bring in Agency Staff which costs more than double what they pay us per hour, and I heard that they have to pay them a basic 8 hour day regardless.

That 1.45 hour post is a terrible deal for half a walk that's paper boy doh that is.

It's exactly the same rate as everyone gets, isn't it? As far as I know, everyone gets the same rate up to 40 hrs, with the exception of the London weighting. Please explain if I'm wrong.
