screwed again
well i am informed that i will get a contract end date tomorrow as hr are clearing out all fixed term contract employees ive got nearly 3 years service so im pretty f.....d off !!! anyone else experiencing this

Im sure that regardless if your fixed term after a period of 2 years or more they cant get rid.
3 lads in my office have been given a finish date ,not good at all.
Get your rep to look into your situ mate could be wrong but I think im rite ( Does that make sense)
Now if you were under 2 years yes i would agree but your clearly over.

yes....i think iw was agreed - 2 years to qualify for permanent

Two years is official policy. But guess what. When the rules don't suit they just ignore them. Despite my local area going to disagreement Royal Mail have reduced hours / got rid of staff recently with over two years service

my rep has been involved for some time now and has informed me that goal post has now moved 4 years for permanent position now and kent area manager refusing to budge on this personal grievances going in today but im not at all hopefull

Kent your rep is wrong the goal posts haven't moved ,its R/M pre-empting the revisions all officers are undertaking at present.
They don't think hours will be put back in they believe they will just taken out.
And the union thought this would was a good deal and the best they could do I think not.
Take this matter up with your area rep ASAP.
Im still fighting for the 3 lads in our office and they go Oct they only have 9 months service but that aint going to stop me fighting.
This is an awful mess and I feel sorry for all you lads it effecting its just not rite.
I get that feeling its time to fight again feck this in the bed relationship with R/M because its all one way .
Lets grow a set again and take them on head to head as its getting out of hand.
Are we as a work force just going to stand by and let this happen across every D/O in the land if we do then shame on us all.

MTSF states that any fixed term contract staff with more than 24 months service should me given a permanent contract.
Royal Mail are currently ingnoring this part of MTSF and are trying to use the law as the guide for making fixed term contract staff permanent which is 4 years.
Discussions are being held at National Level. Any issues at local level should be referered to the area rep and the disagreement procudure should be used.
The Union is confident of ensuring that Royal Mail will abide by the national MTSF however if they do then it is highly likely that those with less than 24 months service will see a terminatiion notice.

Obviously there are different circumstances across the board but our office has 40% part timers and a good number of vacancies and so there is not likely to be any shedding of jobs. Coupled with the fact that the revision, up to now anyway, has not thrown up any anomalies on the current duty set it bodes well as far as shedding staff is concerned.
Any office which has a high level of full time staff is going to suffer with the IWT and will certainly stand to have two levels of losing staff on the delivery methods revision and again on the WSM revision - always according if the modernisation program goes ahead.
