any part timers jumping ship

any part timers now thinking of jumping ship ? i have been doing part time now( 24 hours ) for 2 and a half years ..but since this joke of d2ds has entered they frey .the job is fast becoming ridiculous .as it stands i am now a floater .all of last week i have been coming in to piles of mail waiting to be thrown off .then having to sort pkts ..do a loads of re dicrects .was lucky the d2ds were either one or none ..but on saturday .several of the frames i cover were getting 5 d2ds ..so next week im more than likely going to have the joy of having to 5 up all d2ds on top of everything else ..in theory all this is supposed to be done ..when i arrive hmmmm ..and not forgetting carry shoulder wrenching bags

I've been thinking of it since last year. Starting my degree next month and I might go into teaching/training or something. Unfortunately, there's not much around here that pays as well as RM do for someone with only A Levels.

I would leave..part timers are treated like shite in this job..especially the new starters ...worse job i have ever had..No one minds working hard but when youve got these Hitler type arrogant DOMs bullying you and NOT paying overtime and just basically taking the piss it all becomes to much to swallow


YES we all know about cutting off ! on paper it works ...try putting it into theory and you will be out of a job,seen as a trouble maker by bosses and a whinger by the guys that have it cushy in the DO..

Play them at their own game take a really nice long sickie..6 months full pay !!! should make up for all the overtime not paid and compensate for all the stress suffered at this shameful company

try not to let them get you down..not worth it !!! most of ex posties i know that have jumped ship..say its the best thing they ever did..so much happier

Definately going as soon as park & loop comes in. Going to get me some LGV lessons then i am out of here. Costs a fair bit but thats what all my ot has been for. To be perfectly honest cant wait to get out now.

when i was p/t i loved comin in & seeing the frame in shite state,just made less time on the ground after sorting it out,same as now with this D2D bollox,firing it in the frame every mornin takes 10-15 mins off delivering,play the game,don't let them play you,at the end of the day its only a job,don't let the knobbers get you down,everyone is in the same boat,massive changes,bitching,backstabbing,more pressure from above,i leave the office & all the shite that comes with it at the gates

I want to, im being with the royal mail for 7yrs now in processing working part time 18hrs a week and sunday SA. The job just seems to be a constant challenge every shift with managers, ourselves, and its all becoming to much. I would happily start another job tomorrow, call in sick at royal mail and give them 7 days notice at the same time even though i probably wouldnt get paid for it. Im gonna wait until after xmas i think stick to my normal hours then look for a new job/start then cos i know i wont get the same money elsewhere i would have to work more hours for it but i just dont want to be doing the same job for the next 7yrs.

I would suggest that anyone thinking of leaving sorts out some kind of game plan now, retraining, further education, anything before they go. Then take EVR and have the last laugh. Don't just jack it in on a whim get what you can out of the bastards. It's tough out there and although many ex posties that have left are generally happier... they are also a lot poorer and mostly unemployed so at least some EVR will buy you some more financial breathing space!

Good point Judgee. Hoping for vr myself. Know i wont get it as it will be well oversuscribed. Failing that hoping for the£1000 when we get the vans. Not holding out much hope on that either. Would rather go with something but will go without anything when the time is right.
