Hi I'm a postie but I've got a question to ask on behalf of a friend. Let's call her Debbie.
Last week Debbie sold some equipment (for her daughter's hobby) online. The stuff is valued £200ish each. She got two buyers. The first she sent off straight away but the second she had to make a quick repair to so it was delayed a day.
Debbie didn't have any packaging at home so when she posted the first parcel she had to buy a box in the PO and wrap it there. The assistant was really helpful. Debbie said it was valuable and needed to be well wrapped. The asssistant reassured her. Debbie asked how long it would take. Th assistant said a day or two.
The next day Debbie was at work in another town. In her lunch she took the second item to the PO there. Same process but this time she was told to use Special D which she was very happy to do. In fact she thought it was very good value. The second parcel arrived next day no bother.
So no surprises the buyer of the first parcel says she hasn't got it. The address is Uddingston so I'm asking any Uddingston posties out there have you had a packets backlog recently? Our office has been struggling the last 2 weeks. In fact we have had managers doing deliveries and packets have built up for a day or two before being cleared on overtime.
There are a number of explanations.
1. The buyer is lying. Always a possibility but Debbie says this hobby is a small world and she would recognise the distinctive equipment at a competition. She knows which club the buyer is from.
2. Parcel is sitting in a York waiting for delivery.
3. The delivery address is the buyer's work -a salon. Maybe delivery was attepted before opening time and P739 slipped under door and got lost in other leaflets/free newspapers. So it could be in callers office.
So Uddingston office please help me out!

Thank you for the offers of help. The situation is resolved and Debbie has her parcel back. She rang Uddingston DO and they said it was there on the shelf awaiting collection/redelivery. The buyer says it didn't arrive in time (and denies receiving the P739) so says it's not wanted now. I guess she was just surprised to be the successful bidder and changed her mind. Customers! Grrr!
So Debbie has sold it now to someone else and says she will always use SD in future.
