Transferring to an office closer to home

Post by harry69 »

How would I go about doing this? There are two delivery offices closer to where I live than the one I'm working at, and it would certainly make life easier if I could transfer to one. Any advice/info is much appreciated!

Get a transfer form from your DOM, fill it in stating where you want to go, and send it of.
If you are F/T you may have a very very long wait :arrrghhh , not so bad if you are an A/G.
Good luck
btw you keep your seniority :dance

Go to the offices in question and see the managers there,if they and you are happy then go through the motions with your manager.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Maybe ask if they is a transfer request from these offices to yours? failing that does someone in these units want a swop .

Bumping my old thread.

Am still at my current office - have decided to send a letter to the manager of the two offices nearer to where I live, and see what kind of responses I get (not holding out much hope, though!).

A letter! Lazy arse,go down there on your day off, wear your uniform as well so you can get in easily.

Seriously though you are better off going down there, speak to the guys down there as well ect.

That's right. Many DOMs spend so long on their computer they don't have time to look at any letters they're sent.

I recently got a FT transfer to a D.O around the corner from where i live and save around 5 hours a week travelling time + petrol costs etc. You keep your seniority and any bonuses you may get from your old office :nana .TBH i had to go through atos because of child care issues and once they were on the case it sailed through.Like said previously i was always down at the office i wanted to go to on my rest weeks asking about vacancies and to be fair the managers at both ends helped me out to make it happen :Applause BUT you do need the office you want to go to to have FT vacancies and they are as rare as rocking horse s..t at the moment. So while it is hard its not impossible, good luck its well worth it imo. When you have no travelling to work, you wonder how you put up with doing it for so long.
