whats the legal standing if your a driving a royal mail vechile, who has a crash which you are liable, can the passenger claim off the drivers own insurance as well as royal mail, ie whiplash , personal injuries ,would it effect your own insurance, just a bit worried, would rather sit their getting chauffeured than put my own insurance at risk. I don't drive for royal mail at present

no they cant claim off your own personal car insurance, that policy only covers your whilst driving your own car

You would have to inform you own insurance that you have had a accident that was you fault. With regards to the whiplash claim I'm pretty sure you would have to sue the person in question as suppose to claiming through royal mails insurance.
