Just been informed by the area rep that Ward and Hayes were summoned by RM to tell them they wish to take the national agreement off the table as its just not affodable now.He says the divi reps have be asked to go to london soon for a briefing on the situation but said it dont look good.Also the promised lump sums attached to the revisions in the agreement are longer affordable although revisions are still expected to be implemented due to the new equipment already purchased but looks like with minimal union involvement if any.

is this because privitisation has once again reared its ugly head and royal mail, believe they can implement anything they want to, once we are privitised, I would'nt doubt it

There's nothing on the CWU Website yet, and there haven't been any LTBs about it. But that doesn't mean that what BBR said isn't true. It wouldn't be the first time, they kept something that important from us.

this agreement took five-six months to thrash out, and now they are saying it does'nt work, because there are no savings there, was this agreement just about savings, no it was'nt and is typical of the poor management we have got at the top and flows all the way to the bottom!!!

Area rep was only informed today from what i can gather the IWT seems to be a major sticking point not realising the saving envisaged,
actually in some cases putting a hours back in.Also heard any office that's at 100bsi is efficent in RM eyes of course, but where you have to realise savings to get to 100bsi the lump sums were some sort of bribe now RM i believe are now saying you should be there anyway if your working efficently thus the lump sums are being withdrawn.

For the record Dave and Billy are at the TUC Conference. They met the Chief Executive the week before last and the removal of the agreement is not in question at this moment. Only the introduction of it.

The same Chief executive is due to meet the PEC next week to explain the situation of Royal Mail finances and plan going forward.

It does not take a rocket scientist to understand that Royal Mail have a major cash flow crisis at the moment. Consistent with the fact that revisions are not coming in quick enough for their liking and not producing the savings they had thought, along with the pension issues , the continued loss of revenue to DSA and the in ablility to borrow money has meant that they are in trouble.

What do they gain by ditching the agreement , only more conflict and quality problems. I am not saying they will not consider it but not at this stage otherwise they have wasted millions on introducing the agreement.

Divisonal Reps do not have a meeting until early October in any case.

I appreciate the heads up dingo but it doesn't fill me with confidence..
Just how they propose to dig themselves out of this hole without coming after ridiculous levels of savings is beyond me.
The pressure to ditch the Indoor Work Tool is growing..it cannot be allowed to happen.

Dingo from what you say these revisions can only go 2 ways cut and run as its going to change again under privitisation or hurry them through without much union involvement and pressure on the local rep to agree i.e financial position.For me the IWT is more accurate and they don't like it.
