it has now rained for three days solid on my round ! i was just wondering if anybody has any tips on keeping mail dry i mean its a joke i am practically pushing papier mashe through the door now what are the rules on delivering wet mail ? and can i tell the next customer who moans that mail is wet to f right off your replies are appreciated cheers

I had one woman complain to me that her mail was wet. I said fairly politely

"If you can come up with a solution to keeping the mail dry when the postie is wet, you'll be made for life".

If you make smaller bundles and hold them vertically then the mail will spend less time directly in the rain - try and protect the mail in your bag with one of those yellow things, and put your Special Deliveries in a redirection bag to protect them.
Neither of these things will make any difference but at least you can say you tried.

put a cellophaned magazine at the back of each bundle. simples.

A4 clear plastic sleeves from sons school file for bundle being carried,yellow RM bag for other bundles,d2d's,well,they just get pi$$ wet through

Just tell them you had to hold thier letters out in the rain to wash the s**t off it cos ya just wiped ya ass on it!

Best solution is to hold the bundle/parcel flat & just above your head. Helps keep your hair dry

If you open a garden gate and get bird poo on your hand, wipe it off with the letters and then deliver them - time for bed before I say something silly.

At least you haven't found out the hard way that weed matting floats in a flooded garden...

One consolation, my shoes were already full of water; I could feel it running from one end to the other if I tilted my feet backwards and forwards. I had to wring my socks out when I got home, left them over the edge of the washing basket so they would soak everything in there too. They weren't dry by the following morning. (This was after I'd driven 28 miles home in a van that had a soaking wet seat because the previous postie had been getting in and out wearing his "stormproof" coat and no seat liner thing. I therefore also had a wet arse by the time I got home.)

Luckily, I had another pair of shoes at home to wear that day, and dry uniform.

They then got soaked later the when the torrential downpour continued.

The other shoes still weren't dry by the day after that, even after stuffing them with newspaper. I feared I would get trench foot.

It didn't rain as badly the next day and my other shoes were reasonably dry by then so I wore those.

TBH my Magnum boots stay dry in the worst weather but then I do take the time to polish them so that may be the reason.

My hairdryer won't stay on that long before it overheats and cuts out. I'm not buying a new one just to dry off crappy RM shoes!

Last winter, I put my shoes on the radiator during the evening while the heating was on. I do NOT have smelly feet but those shoes absolutely reeked! My lounge didn't smell very nice... The wallpaper was nearly peeling off
