New Starter - Silly question (i think!)

Hi All,

Just got my contract through (all thoose who say dont sign it! , shall be ignored haha - i am up for the challenge!)

Under where it states rate of pay. I was just wondering if you get anything else on top of that ? ie overtime rates? possible round supplments?

You will get your contracted basic pay (pro rata!) and then any overtime you do make sure you claim for each day - include your meal break!! - and this is paid at normal rate until you reach 40 hours then it goes up, a bit.

You will also get a delivery supplement - pro rata again - which is £20.60 for f/t

A pro rata bonus at Christmas - £100 for f/t plus 50 stamps!

No per week and paid during annual leave and when off sick(when trial period over)

Don't know about other offices but at ours we are usually paid in 'time' - ie if I go over my delivery time by 30 minutes then the next day I go in 30 minutes late?

Wouldnt work at our office cause youd just over again ,man...you wouldnt have to turn up on saturdays some weeks.

When you go in 30 mins late, does someone do 30 mins prep for you, or deliver 30 mins worth of your mail?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Heres the really good bit with regards to overtime that not a lot of people know. If you go over 50hrs then you actually get paid less than your normal hourly rate! Not sure if this helps as i am 30hrs contract but here goes....


1st 10 hrs up to 40 £9.41
SSPR up to 50 £10.07
Over 50 £8.37

Hope that helps a bit. Just remember claim for everything as RM will rip you off whenever they can.

Good idea that DGP. Already do that myself. It is amazing the number of times that it does not match my payslip! Another thing is to always make sure you sign the ot sheet. Never take a mgrs word that they will do it. They usually forget. Most times on purpose to improve their figures. If they argue with what you are claiming then threaten not to do anymore ot.
