Just herd on the news The goverment are lookin to part privatise the royal mail. Could any one tell me what exactly this would mean for the average postman on the street. I gather the problem is something to do with the 10 billion pensions deficit ! Thanks

Too early to tell and TBH not enough details from the Tories or Libs yet.

However, if the follow Hoopers recommendation the Gov will take on the supposed deficit and get their hands on £20Billion worth of property.

Job losses look likely and pressure on T&Cs growing - basically same as now.

Well typically, as a private business, Royal Mail would be looking to implement a bonus driven management culture obsessed with profit and cost cutting.
This would most likely result in the deterioration of the service it provides, and the bullying and intimidation of its workers to achieve impossible targets.

So, yeah, no change at all.

I would agree except I think the use of casuals will increase rather than Part Timers. Casuals are even easier and cheaper to hire and fire, PTimers have the same rights as FTimers but casuals dont.

So yeah no change there again. Do you think the union members will get a vote on privatisation under the 2010 and Beyond and the new understanding and the 3 year deal and the p*ss poor wage decreases No.

Its been coming for a while, I went up to the wire on a previous privatisation and if you think the 2010 and Beyond is bad wait and see what's in store in terms of agreements on your behalf is coming your way.

I disagree, there will be the Dartford Toll crossings ( and any other Govt owned toll roads, etc, the student loan book, the civil service and everyone that works at the Houses of Parliment - except MPs & Peers, naturally ), then, finally, GB Plc will have nothing left, and the next time we are in the sh*t, we will be staying there.
