So is my job on line after revision

Ive been PT now for 2 years still pretty new...

All i hear about is how offices will be paying off alot of people once revision is done.

therefore is my job seriously on the line???

I don't think they will be paying many people off. Apparently RM are skint, so they will find other ways of getting rid of people.

I'm similar - part time for just over 2 years. We were given the list of duty options - all 7 options have only full time duties and my 25 hours would not fit in any of the covers or anything. The only option with mention of part timers was if full timers want every other weekend off, part timers can work every weekend as cover!!! I have to admit I can't see how we fit in with the plans. Even our manager admits he doesn't know what is going to happen to us. I just keep thinking of those words in the agreement "protection of full time jobs......" But why employ so many part timers only to back track? I just don't understand and like you am worried about my job.

From my office, they want full timers out, they will never make part timers up.
Management are happy that the holiday and sickness cost is being reduced.

It's down to what happens in your revision.
I've said it before but i have a heart and other offices reps and those who will help with the revisions may not,but at my place we will not take the piss out of the part timers already there to get more saturdays off.

I'll be honest but i fell sorry for you guys,especially with dodgy reps and those involved in revisions.There is a possibility in some offices that you will be an after thought.

Im in a small office 20 or less and we are getting 4 or 5 PT 30hr contracts made upto full time

Going to grab it when its offered as i know its never likely again!

Been told off the union though to watch how the contract is worded

to be honest if the jobs is going to be about being with sumone all day then im not interested the freedom will have gone if at the end of every street your stressing out about if sumones waiting on you or where sumone else is.

Re read the agreement, it's there in black and white, the union position is geared to the protection of FT jobs. Understandable from an organisational perspective,historically PT workers are less unionised, more isolated and less likely to act in defence of their T& C's. Combine that with the new duty structure options which overwhelmingly offer longer hours and jobs will go. So after reading the agreement do you think redundancies will pick off PT or FT jobs?

Well, our office have said 4-5 made up to FT and an increases in part time hours. Still won't believe it til I see it. What worries me about this whole van sharing thing, is the amount of people who come to work under the influence from the night before. I've done it myself once, had a cup of coffee and was tipsy again, needless to say my car got left. However, how many times have u seen hungover posties at work? I can actually see a few ppl losing their jobs on this issue alone.

I've already started looking for other work as my knees just aint up to the job any more, shame cos I rather quite liked the job when I started there, but certain other factors have had come into my decision, but I wish u guys luck with it all.

Might even see the revisions happening, depends how long it will take me to find another job :)

but,but....what about the overarching aim of no compulsory redundancies?
Fixed term contract...less than 1 years service....part-time...don't make any long term plans.
