Does 4hour30+ Deliveries signal the end of 20 hour contracts
Can 20 hour contracts work on longer delivery spans, I can't see it.
Anyone tell me how it can be done, I reckon it could be 25 hour min contracts.

Would have to be 3 with indoor work, what's that do to FT jobs or the idea to cut indoor work.

If...the 20hr part-timer wishes to stay on 20hrs there isn't much RM can do about it.gb93 wrote:Would have to be 3 with indoor work, what's that do to FT jobs or the idea to cut indoor work.
I think your right,it's an awkward size of contract with longer deliveries so i can't see any more coming in.
It may be if an office only has a couple these could have a shorter 3.5hr delivery.
There is nothing that says all deliveries in an office have to be the same length.

We are starting to think alike, the shorter del span I thought of as a option that's why the topic states 4.30+ del span.

Re: Does 4hour30+ Deliveries signal the end of 20 hour contr
im interested in what changes they want in my office as im the only 24 hr contract worker who does them over 5 days, this means 5 lots of d2d whereas the other 24 hr workers do 4 days of 6 hrs thus only 4 days d2d, ive done the same walk for 20 months now and even though i havent signed for it as mine, i am classed as the duty holder on all paperwork. i'd obviously rather do 4 days of 6 hrs but at the moment i get a rotating day off and if i winge i can see them changing me to wed-sat permanent as the other 24 hrs - so its a catch 22 situation. I have suggested id be happy with a permanent tuesday off if my secondary day off was rotated.

25 hrs is not enough for 4.30 deliveries either. Unless you teleport between delivery and office.gb93 wrote:Can 20 hour contracts work on longer delivery spans, I can't see it.

I can't see any connection. Delivery span and hours that you work aren't related to contracted hours are they?gb93 wrote:Can 20 hour contracts work on longer delivery spans, I can't see it.
Yes, you claim overtime for the hours you do in excess of your contracted hours.gb93 wrote:Anyone tell me how it can be done.
Here's my hours:
Sat, Mon and Tues I work 5 hours. Wed Thurs and Fri I work 6 hours.
My contract? 25 hours.

The connection is that if you are contracted 9-2 and they give you a 4.30 delivery you can leave some of the delivery. If delivery span is in excess of your contracted hours you cannot be forced to complete.NewPostieUK wrote:I can't see any connection. Not an ideal position to be in if your a line manager trying to get me to complete and I have other plans.
In your situation it is only your goodwill or desire to get overtime that the delivery is getting completed. Not everyone will share your views, hence the question asked.

Not one to put ideas into RM heads because they will allready be there but.Pat Ostman wrote:25 hrs is not enough for 4.30 deliveries either. Unless you teleport between delivery and office.gb93 wrote:Can 20 hour contracts work on longer delivery spans, I can't see it.

On a 5 day week with no conveyance ie meet at 1st delivery point and finish at last it works.
4.30 to times 5 = 22.5 30 min break times by 5 = 2.30 = voilà 25 hour contract.
Now in my opinion that is now the lowest contract that should be offered or duties shaped by.

You would need all your bags ready and thats very unusual in my experience. The duties would also have to be reasonable which is often not the case Royal Mail are always pushing for more so eventually 30HR would need to be the minimum.gb93 wrote:Not one to put ideas into RM heads because they will allready be there but.Pat Ostman wrote:25 hrs is not enough for 4.30 deliveries either. Can't see the protection of FT jobs in that Pat.
Remember 20 hour contracts were supposed to be "waysider"
I think the theory is 2 in a van 1 Ft 1 PT, FT preps both walks because of the diminished IP.
I think 30 hour minimum is a tad ambitious but 25 not (just personel opinion).

Your right gb...they won't build time into a duty "in case" the bags aren't ready.
You could argue for a 30hr contract with a 4.5hr delivery span but there would have to be some indoor work involved...and indoor work will naturally be used to protect full-time jobs.

Don't forget not every duty will have 270 minutes walk. Some might be 3 hours walk or whatever.
