The future for Royal Mail
Reading these threads and they all paint a similar picture,Offices all over the country are failing mail on a huge scale.
Why is this?
Have royal mail pushed too far and made the jobs so big all over the country they cant be completed?
Is it a huge balls up by refusing to make people full time and just scrape along with part timers who rely on overtime (me)
Customers are now coming to me daily,I had 6 today asking where their packets and missing mail was.
The regulators would have a field day if they conducted an investigation right now.
I have had my hours now changed for the 3rd time in 3 weeks,Working later than ever 7am - 1pm with 2 hours sa at the end,So 3pm.
I can honestly say i am ashamed,Delivering mail in the middle of the afternoon and apologising to people for the constant delays.
What happend to pleasing the customer and respecting employees?
How much worse will this get?
The days of feeling proud to wear the uniform have long gone for me,Which is sad.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Remember TheGhost, you are only a pay number and your customers are, sadly in Royal Mails eyes, only delivery points. Their attitude to customers is very two-faced as they are always claiming to be customer focused but from where im standing they dont give a toss about them.

Re: The future for Royal Mail
great topic i think, many threads now highlight the management running roughshod over the universal service agreement, lying to their own superiors and completely ignoring quality of service on products such as tracked, specials and even d2d. I feel its gonna come to a head this xmas pressure when understaffed offices reach critical mass, failures galore, especially packets, and exhausted staff say no more forced overtime. Maybe im dreaming with those last few words!

Re: The future for Royal Mail
There's nothing wrong with worrying about profit. However, there are (literally) hundreds of multinational companies that a) make profits and b) maintain and please a regular customer base. It should not be so difficult to do both, not so difficult that you spend years trying to attain even the minimum standard of acceptability, that is. Unfortunately, Royal Mail appears to have thrown the baby out with the bath water too many times and consequently keeps having to start all over again. Right now it would make the greatest sense to keep the customers apprised of any changes. A door-to-door slot should be used once anything is set in stone to advise the members of the public of what to expect in the future and the reasons for that. If that means they will receive their mail later then let them know, tell them why. They'll probably be irritated but like all changes they'll get used to it and be much more grateful for having been told than if they hadn't (as will likely be the case).Judgee wrote:Profit is all that matters don't you know that, screw the workforce and the customers!

Customers...
They want their mail fast and early....but they don't want to pay for the service or fight for the service.
They are a fickle bunch who will turn on you in a heartbeat and blame you for everything.
I'll get my tin hat.

I wised up to the "great" British public a few years ago, sheeple, not people, is how I view them. I've no time for their petty worries, their petty concerns.fishtank wrote:Customers...![]()

Today marks the 70th anniversary of the start of the blitz, can anybody, anybody at all, imagine the multitude of absolute w*****s we have today, face what our grandparents faced every night for nine solid months, with the same stoicism, bravery, determination, as they showed?

Idiot Joe and Jane public will always go for the cheapest option and the complain like hell thats the service they get is a pile of shite.
It makes me laugh when you hear people complain about not getting their mail early like they once did back in 1985
