What, exactly, does 'Into The Workload' mean?
I know there's been loads of Door to Door topics, and I've read them all, but I'm still lost.
I used to work 5 hours (6 some days, longs and shorts) and do three Door to Doors. Now everything is exactly the same, but there's 5 big heavy Door to Doors to be delivered. Now that it's measured into the workload, what difference should there be? Where does the time come from to do this extra work? Surely if you add something you have to take something away (or add hours to contracts).
I know we might be going round in circles, but what is the official line on this? They can't be saying that mail volumes are down at this time of year, they are clearly up after the summer lull. Flats (although something an inch thick isn't flat to me) are sky high, bags have to be split in two, or three due to the weight.
It takes ages to prep and deliver five big Door to Doors.
Another problem is duty holders expect me to do a fifth on their day off (I'm a floater). They say nobody wants to do Door to Doors on a saturday, and it's the duty holder who decides which fifth has to be done. There's been nothing said at all about the extra stuff by management, they get put next to the frame and you get on with it.

It's a sixth! Take no notice of what the duty holder says.......it's a sixth!

Our DO has a rota on each fitting showing which 1/6th needs to be done on any particular day! I suggest you adopt this system to save any arguments! The time for the Unaddressed mail is now in your workload so if you can't fully prep and deliver in your time, advise your DOM or Lino that you can't complete BEFORE you go out and put the problem on him!

Re: What, exactly, does 'Into The Workload' mean?
It's not though! I do exactly the same as before, plus the new Door to Doors, so it's extra to the workload. And the workload isn't measured in any way at all. I thought the duties were going to be changed to incorporate all the new stuff. Nothing has changed, nothing has been looked at, it's just an extra load of Door to Doors. Also, is there no limits to the weight? We used to get one big one and either two small ones, or one small and one medium. Now it seems the are big booklets every week.Watchcote wrote: The time for the Unaddressed mail is now in your workload

What he means is if its going to take you over your time, the delivering of the 1/6th (or 1/5th) you can now claim overtime, or consequently, cut off. Before you could not claim overtime because the D2Ds took you over your time as we were apparently paid extra for doing it.NewPostieUK wrote:It's not though! So if the combined workload is not possible within duty time, alert your manager and discuss the options with them. REMEMBER all overtime is voluntary so if you don't want to work over don't.
The actual accounting for D2D into workload apparently should happen at your next revision, but managers are expected to show demonstrable solutions if weight becomes an issue -- though exactly what that means is anyone's guess.

Re: What, exactly, does 'Into The Workload' mean?
As a result of the Business Transformation 2010 and Beyond agreement D2D will now be placed into measured workload both indoor and out door. This move into workload will require delivery duties to be adjusted and allowances to be made in order provide sufficient time to prep the items and deliver them.
This move will enable the quality of service associated with D2D to be driven to 100% - which is crucial in building customer confidence.
To aid the transition, offices that have not deployed delivery methods revisions will provide genuine and demonstrable solutions to any weight or volumetric issues.
In the interim period, prior to a structural revision, you should establish from the guidelines beneath what interim arrangements need to be put in place to deal with D2D workload. These interim arrangements should be agreed locally with the CWU and be reviewed at the normal weekly resourcing meeting.
The unit manager should check through Contract status on an ongoing basis to see if your unit is likely to be affected by increased D2D volumes.
Although I think a lot of DOMS just thought they could shove the D2D out and pray they get delivered.

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

I've read that before somewhere.clashcityrocker wrote:As a result of the Business Transformation <snip>
It's scandalous. And most idiots are just delivering all the extra without a word.clashcityrocker wrote: Although I think a lot of DOMS just thought they could shove the D2D out and pray they get delivered.

Well because it's saving full time jobs according to the union bods, though how that helps the 45% in my office who are only part time and still delivering the extra is totally beyond me.NewPostieUK wrote:I've read that before somewhere.clashcityrocker wrote:As a result of the Business Transformation <snip>

Re: What, exactly, does 'Into The Workload' mean?
The time to integrate d2d's is supposed to be saved from the new super duper walk sorting machines that make prep time faster.... machines which hardly any offices actually have. Machines that save at best ten minutes a day.... when and if you have them and all are working correctly.
Of course most offices wont get them for years but that doesn't stop them increasing your workload with integrated d2d's until the machines arrive. Isn't it strange how they didn't wait for the machines before they increased our workload......not
Another roaring union success voted in by numbnuts up and down the country!!!

Yup thats the one, 4 months to negotiate a paycut and increased workload. Just think what they could have achieved with 8 months negotiations.... all posties must sell a kidney in order to boost profits!
?
Or should I say all 'delivery' staff must sell a kidney so the rest of the staff can get a payrise? Dohhhh controversial

I don't want to rock the boat obviously but aren't they still negotiating? There's no definitive final word on the IWT yet.Judgee wrote:Yup thats the one, 4 months to negotiate a paycut and increased workload. Its in your work time, if you finish before your time you have no arguments but if you dont then you cut off and highlight the problem to your manager

Re: What, exactly, does 'Into The Workload' mean?
Yup, you cut off and go to your manager who then pisses and moans wasting far more time than if you had been out there finishing your round. Who then comes up with a fictional sheet stating that even though there's sheetloads of mail the day has been deemed a light one by the upper management [possibly Stevie Wonder], it must be true because they said so. Therefore you are cutting off on thier fictionally light day intentionally to wind them up. They then attach your testicles to the back of a RM van and drive it round the car park at speed!coxie wrote:Its in your work time, if you finish before your time you have no arguments but if you dont then you cut off and highlight the problem to your manager
