stage 1 warning,double strike

got my first after 6 months on sick,sept 09,then had the op this year & have been out from april to last week,lino got me in for the stage 1 interview,& after the usual tosh,said he was issuing me with it,i pointed out that i had already been issued with a stage 1 sept 09 & was not accepting another one cos it was the same injury ,he ended the interview cos he had to seek advice,I would like some,what is the crack,surely i can't have 2 stage 1's for the same injury?

Did u seek union representation from your union reps, if u did they should have been able to sort it out for you if you didnt then you should have.
if i have read this right then it should have been a stage 2 interview as you would have triggered it and with union representation he/she would have got you off this

not stage 2 as 6 months had lapsed between sickness periods,the original injury,then 7 months later the op for it,rep on A/L & i'm only back 4 days,hence why i'm asking on here,i told lino that i was getting someone else in with me as a witness,i also told them over & over that i was due an op for this,& was told that an op does not count as a period of sickness

i had an achilles op about 10 years ago which triggered a stage 1 warning(yawn) and argued this point but was quite forcefully informed by my lino and his manager, when i argued the point that it did count toward a stage 1.i just refused to sign anything and still refuse now whenever i trigger this pathetic system,it really upsets my lino so that is another reason i do it.

Im afraid unless the absence is under the DDA or any normal AAW, a spell in hospital will not be automatically discounted. It is up to you or the CWU rep representing you to fight your corner .

Also the Manager cannot issue you with any Stage at the interview. He/She MUST consider your mitigation outside the interview before coming to his/her decision..

If you are not happy with the process ,put a grievence in.. You cannot appeal Stage 1/2 but if and when a Stage 3 comes around the grievence would come into play...

2. MINIMUM NATIONAL ATTENDANCE STANDARDS - EMPLOYEES NOT ON TRIAL
Employees who have successfully completed their trial period are still required to maintain a high standard of attendance. Attendance may be regarded as warranting formal action if an employee who is not on trial has:

Stage 1: 4 absences or 14 days in a 12 month period
Stage 2: 2 absences or 10 days in any 6 month period during the next 12 months
Stage 3: 2 absences or 10 days in any 6 month period during the next 12 months
In deciding whether these standards are met for employees whose trial was recently confirmed, attendance during the whole of employment is considered, not jut from the date trial is confirmed. An employee whose trial has been confirmed following an improvement to the required triallist standard will be put back to the previous stage of the Attendance Procedure but the criteria appropriate to a non-triallist will then apply.

had interview today,manager passed it up to DSM,he said to issue it cos of amount of post op time i had off (5 months ,plus 6 months last year) rep said take it on the chin,i did ,but refused to sign as i disagreed with the outcome (who does ?)

I asked my DOM last week regarding being off for the same injury that triggered a previous stage. He said it would be issued even though I had to have a S3 interview for the initial AOD injury. Hopefully I should be clear of my S2 before I go and have my knee operated on, only to have to spend another year on a S2 when I get back. The sickness procedure is a crock of s**t!

& then they have the nerve to send me a letter about my experiences being long term sick,as we are rated the "highest in the industry",& what can be done to accelerate early return to work...........................oh f*ck aye,so the manager gets a tidy bonus,HR ticks another box,& we get forced back before we are completely healed,get to f*ck,filed in the bin with my copy of the stage 1 report,tossers

I would have accepted it and kept quiet cos you should have triggered a stage 2 so if you only get a stage 1 you have had a right touch
