Full primary of mail stood down today.

Never, ever, in 15 years service seen that before. Would have taken us 10 minutes to knock what was there out but the gaffer stood it down today, told by his boss to do so because time was getting on.

Been out later on a Saturday and still managed to finish on time, and was well finished within time today.

Cant understand it to be honest, is there a problem with RM's finances that they cannot dare afford pay overtime??

We were running very late on the IPS today so the managers got into a panic and rolled loads of 2nd class and DSA. It was quite funny really with them running around calling "dont sort that" and whipping mail away

I rem one sat about 5 years ago when a lorry full of mech trays was delayed and turned up after we had finished the IPS. We all thought that we would be called back on but NO they rolled the whole lorry

Its just double standards, if you leave a first class letter in your frame then its a warning but when it suits they will roll tens of thousands.

Maybe the union should send out letters to the staff with postcoms number and ask us to phone them if there are any failures within the office. That would royally f*ck them up

Now that the CWU is Royal Mail's little lap dog, can't see that ever happening.

There was also no urgency to clear all incoming packets, they were put into walk bags after we had left the building...

By far the most "unprofessional" (as in loads of undelivered mail) working day I've known since I started just before Xmas last year. I guess there were reasons behind it, unknown to mere mortals/slaves ;)

that, and the fact that most parts of the company, both mail centres and delivery offices, are grossly understaffed.
Recruitment's been on hold for several years now while we wait for revisions/closures etc. We've all seen people leave and not be replaced as the likelihood is that in the near future offices will be told to shed staff.

Funny really, it doesn't work properly now with too few staff, what makes them think it will work any better in the future with too few staff?

Aye everything is not as it seems,its whats not said that runs this organisation,in other words postcom is a set up to create the illusion that Royal Mail is being carefully watched but in reality what do you think would happen
if you informed postcom about Royal Mail not clearing mail etc ?Postcom and Royal Mail are the same thing.

The same applies to some parts of the union,has anyone here tried to complain to a DIV rep or HQ about an area rep not doing their job properly,i have sent e-mails to HQ and HQ then sent them to the person who i was complaining about.Cheers!

Shed loads of mail left in our office yesterday,Do whatever overtime u want.
Today he has 12 lads going in to clear the mountains of packets/parcels that have backlogged,Minimum of 4 hours each but can do more if they want.

All to do with selling it off if it looks on the outside to be an efficent running bussines then just maybe some educated numpty from another company with profit margins as key factors migh be persuaded to part with the odd billion.
But of course the reality is it's penny pinching on a big scale as that old tv programe said 'never mind the quality feel the width' q of s is then pushed aside to obtain figures for the government to persue their goal

Managers were going round on Friday asking for people to go in today, don't think they got many takers, just the usual saddo docket grabbers. 3 hours IPS the other day and they wondered why they had cut offs coming out of their ears
