Doing a collection yesterday and got handed a piece of paper with all the collection points that i was going to...i was told to fill out how much mail each post box or business was getting ie 30+letters, 2 boxes.
Is this more cutting back on the service that some of the public desperately need? I can see some post boxes been taken away in the near future, and some business mail been taken away also. So i wonder if this is the demise of some collection points. They did it with the post offices, now poor old granny will probably have to walk an extra mile to post that letter to her grandchild.

Exactly right.......is the collection point justifying having 1 or 2 coleections a day, if you're collecting 1-10 letters each collection then it probably isn't is it!!!

LTB Below,but you should not be counting the letters on the street or in the van!So how are you doing it?Baring in mind you are supposed to scoop the letters into a bag.

Dear Colleagues,
Further to Bob’s email dated 17th August on the above, we have received a number of enquiries from representatives in the field.
We have exchanged further correspondence with Royal Mail and can now confirm the following.
* The volume counts are not a replacement for data gathering in the revisions process. This is still a necessary step and unaffected by this exercise.
* Despite what some managers are saying – these counts are not a regulatory requirement nor are they being carried out as a result of being instigated by Postcomm.
* Royal Mail has agreed that the data gathered will be shared with the CWU.
We are still in dialogue with Royal Mail with regard to verification of container fills.

When collection reviews are planned they look at boxes getting less than one hundred items per day. If they get less than this then they only collect once a day. This has a big impact on duties, especialley as the revsion tool geo route routes are tight on time. Then to mantain full time jobs you have to look at hybrids, which goes down like a lead ballon. Cupboards are bare when it comes to Evr, so members who want to go can not. Hope this revsion does not come to all , but i bet it does when RM see hours cut in other units.
