Parcelforce Worldwide and CWU Joint Statement Regarding the Reward Package Negotiations
Following on from the joint statement released by Peter Macdonald, Director HR Parcelforce Worldwide and Terry Pullinger CWU National Officer, on the 2nd June 2010, we are issuing this joint statement to apprise you of the current position regarding the ‘Reward Package’ negotiations.
We are acutely aware that Parcelforce Worldwide employees and CWU members are becoming increasingly frustrated that we have not been able to finalise our negotiations. However we remain absolutely determined to resolve our differences through dialogue and agreement and the sentiments of our last joint statement hold firm.
These discussions are incredibly complex and difficult as we try to develop a reward package which seeks to reconcile recognition for past and future service with the prevailing economic climate.
Pay discussions inside and outside of our industry have faced similar pressures and many have ended in dispute situations that have proved damaging to managers, unions, the customers and especially the workers themselves.
Against that backdrop we are determined to avoid such a situation and therefore have agreed to ask ACAS to assist us, in a totally conciliatory capacity, to reach an agreement.
At the time of drafting this statement the arrangements are being made for those meetings to take place. In the meantime we thank you for your continued excellent performance as it is self evident that the stronger the company’s performance the greater chance we have of reaching an acceptable agreement.
Terry Pullinger Peter Macdonald
Assistant Secretary Director HR
CWU Parcelforce Worldwide
