Does anyone have any info as to when the new strike dates will be?

CWU Said that the dates would be announced today at the latest looks like they are giving RM more time

Dazza where do you get this info from? I'm being asked at work all the time if I've heard anything and yet the Union website has nothing (as per usual). Sorry for being thick; if I were clever I'd have gone to Management by now

Dazza you were quite right in saying that the CWU were perhaps going to announce more strike dates by the 30th July. The item on their website entitled "Two weeks of disruption Planned for all Postal Services" has a line at the bottom of the page which says "Full Details"

Click on these words and the following extra information appears

"Strike Action - We have agreed a rolling programme of strikes that means Royal Mail will face two weeks of functional/site specific strikes resulting in 2 weeks of continuous disruption to mail services.

This is designed to hit Royal Mail harder at minimum cost to our members. Details of the full programme of the strikes are attached. For individuals it will mean two 24 hour strikes over the next two weeks.

We will be issuing further guidelines on how the strikes will be carried out and the need for all members to support the action in a disciplined manner.

If required, the Union will be announcing a further programme of strike action no later than Monday 30th July."

I think we need to keep this 'rolling strikes' campaign going, with no interval between the stoppages already announced and the next set of stoppages. It would be a big own-goal if our actions lead to a backlog of mail, only for there to be a gap of several days or a week, where RM can clear it. We would be back to square one again.

No-one wants strikes. We want a resolution to the dispute, and Leighton to have meaningful negotiations with the CWU. But if we do have to continue the strikes, the CWU need to announce a fresh wave of strikes commencing on 9th August, straight after the last of those already announced. To be able do this and still comply with the law, they have to give RM notice no later than this Thursday, so I'm looking for the leadership to announce things straight after Wednesday's meeting. Unless of course, Royal Mail agree to talks before then.

Word i heard from a RM leaked letter is they think it could be 2 days on the trot.

wonder what 2 days they will pick , going to start to hit members hard, i say we get looking a part-time job anytime now.

Two days at a time is a big hole in the pocket. I still believe working to your 318 is the best option.When we first started weighing our bags correctly they were paying out 400-500 hours a week in over time because there were so many cut offs and thats the truth.

Do away with all the unsafe bag drops & have them to hand, that would really slow things down

could be a Saturday and Monday big impact on RMail but low on pay as days would be split over 2 pay periods.

Do another rolling set of strikes. If it`s 80 milllion backlog now that`ll double. Maybe make the end of the rolling strike on a thursday or friday and do the 2 dayer so it runs fri/mon or sat/mon for delivery. They could work it so everyone still only loses 1 day a week.
