Buydown of hours
Am i right in saying that if you want to buydown your hours from 40 to 30 then it's calculated the same as VR?
For example of you've done a min of 2years then you get 26weeks gross pay divided by four and that's your buydown money?
Also you can't try and go fulltime "fat chance of that anyway" within 2years of a buydown?

Re: Buydown of hours
Thanks fishtank. So say i've been with the company for 10years and under 40 (make things easier) Then under EVR you'd get 10 x weekly wage, if this is less than the min of 26weeks min for everyone who's done more than two years service. Then it will be twenty six weeks pay. With a 25% cut in wages, i.e a 10hour buydown from full time, you'll get 26 weeks gross
pay divided by four?
Are my calculations correct?

Sounds about right...works out around £2,300(pro-rata of course
And to answer your other question if you go back to full-time before the 2 years are up or leave/get sacked you have to pay back a percentage of the payment...but not if your made redundant.

Well I think you wuz robbed BD - I took it in 2005 and got much more proportionately for 40 to 25, but I don't know if the calculation was different then.Big Daz wrote:I joined RML August 1991 took buy down from 40 to 30 in September 2007 and had just under £4900 from RML.

Re: Buydown of hours
Just been warned, if you do have a pay down for example, 40 hrs to 30hrs your future pension would be reduced by a 1/4...

Well, yes, your working 25% less and paying in 25% less so..............easter bunny wrote:Just been warned, if you do have a pay down for example, 40 hrs to 30hrs your future pension would be reduced by a 1/4...
But only on future instalments, as I understand it previously earned pension cannot be affected on a buy down. Hope I am right.

Re: Buydown of hours
Correct..future earnings..6% of 30 hrs is going to pay less than if you were doing 40...Also be aware that the pension from 2008 is now basicially an average over your career rather than your best year out of your last 3...

SWW will help narrow the difference, we as grassroots reps and mbrs need to make sure HQ hear us loud and clear that SWW should pushed for all the time.

That would be blatantly obvious to all but the few - the few who are actually negotiating who consider it meet that the indoor work can quite easily be translated into outdoor workBig Daz wrote:SWW will help narrow the difference, we as grassroots reps and mbrs need to make sure HQ hear us loud and clear that SWW should pushed for all the time.

So when this indoor tool kicks off, can rm use it as a stick to people cutting off etc by threatening the conduct code route du to being too slow against your IWT rate that they have?dvbuk55 wrote:That would be blatantly obvious to all but the few - the few who are actually negotiating who consider it meet that the indoor work can quite easily be translated into outdoor workBig Daz wrote:SWW will help narrow the difference, we as grassroots reps and mbrs need to make sure HQ hear us loud and clear that SWW should pushed for all the time.

Re: Buydown of hours
Local DOMS will no doubt try it on, but others will be senisble and use a intelligent approach if they have concerns about a OPG's performance, such as first establishing if they have any problems that might affect their workrate, secondly testing the outdoor work and seeing exactly how much of the working day needs to be allocated to the outdoor work. Third take off IPS time from the remaining indoor time and then see if the the time that is left is realistic for prep based on the 25 letters a min test.
