Hi guys

Has anyone yet address the d-d delivery during a bank holiday week. We use to get 20% extra but now its changed our frames have been divided in to columns, the first column which is monday won't get delivered as we are not in, but now we have been told they still have to go. What have other offices been told and what is the policy?

Good point Ive not really thought about it but i guess we will have to spread them over the remaining days of the week.

Each column has to be done on a certain day we got told, column 1 - mon, c2 - tues, c3 - wed etc etc, so why is it allowed for rm change that policy when its a bank holiday. It really sticks in my throat.

Because it is in the 2010 & Beyond agreement surprisingly,what a shocker

And neither is it fair! It seems perfectly reasonable, for people to ask if there's any contingency plan to avoid the increase in their workload for the Bank Holiday weeks.

Another way of looking at it is since d2d has become a 6 day delivery spec RM have lightened the workload for Bank Holiday weeks.

OK, what is the 1/5th...............management are supposed to manage them by working out what gets done on what day but they don't want to know (TBH in my office they spend so much time doing posties work they barely have time for ebay or Facebook any more ).

Indeed Andy...what happens during the Christmas week if we are off Mon and Tues...just take a 1/4...it's not rocket science and has anybody put anything concrete in place for late arrivals maybe a thurs....just take a 1/3rd it's not rocket science.

If your office is anything like ours then I suspect that you'll have a long wait.

We've been pretty much left to organise the D2Ds ourselves. Luckily, it works well for the little team I'm in but I see it going tits up on a regular basis in the wider office.

I don't understand why a lino can't check on the prep of D2Ds on every walk each morning. Just mark them off on a clip board and if anyone isn't doing them then pull them up.

We have a table to fill in each day, with ten columns, representing my (and many others i my section) frame of ten columns. We are supposed to take out specific colums each day, typically two, but Tuesdays and Thursdays (for a start) have just single columns. About 17% of houses are to receive D2D per day over the six day working week.

But then many frames have "local agreements" between the regular walk member and their day off cover, using all sorts of methods to do such things as the Saturday deliverer gets a D2D round. This is all very well when its a "normal week" when just those two cover the walk.

But then the regular takes a day off and the walk is split between a number of individuals as overtime. To compound matters, the prepper tries to conform to the "local agreement" of what D2D are delivered. This results in a row being D2D prepped, which just happens to be my section of the overtime of some ~100 houses, none of which are in the column of the frame that is officailly supposed to be delivered that day...

The result?

All ~100 D2Ds are removed from frame and the frame holder and lino are told in front of each other the following morning why I did it and why this is not "willful delay" on my part.

I have a "local agreement" with my cover, where he now does 3% less of the longstanding day off cover D2D. If I ever have a day off, as long as the offical columns for that day have been delivered, that's fine. Leave behind stuff that should be done according to the rules and it won't be me delivering them for you or being accused of "willful delay" by my lino.
