Part timers helping to sort missorts

Whats the official line as to sorting the missorts before delivery? are part timers required to help? reason I ask is because i was the only full timer sorting the missorts one day this week, whilst the part timers just stood around watching me, gagging to get out the door - felt kinda pressured, I know i shouldnt have, its hacked me off - cheers guys.

It depends if the time is built into their duty. As most are 20/25/30 hours, then they should not be sorting. This should secure full time jobs.

Well I have to disagree Full or Part time - according to the agreement all hours should be worked and NOBODY should be standing around doing nothing especially if there is work to do and no I am not a manager.

I would have thought that everyone in the building should be sorting the missort arrival? They do at our place.

Anyone who's finished their prep and got nothing to do but stand about should be pitching in, anyone still prepping should at least be bringing round any missorts that they still have and sorting them up?

I have to side with you on this one dv.
It's a strange notion that one postman can sit back and watch another postman work inside your contracted hours.
Surely if you have to wait on the missorts anyway,rather than standing about with you finger up your a*se or worse still buzzing about trying to grab your missorts,lending a hand will actually help you get out the door faster.....or have i missed something here....and no i am not a manager either.

Horrible situation in our office at the mo,All the full timers are on rounds that take 3 hours 30 mins max,Part timers are on 4 hour 30 min rounds,The full timers always finish before their time and sit in spoons,Some even ring part timers slurping and making a sound like ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.The part timers always work to/over thier time,So while in the office no part timer will do anything that will help a full timer get out earlier and to be honest i dont blame them.

How did this situation ever come to be. I thought that all walks (until the revisions) were 3 and a half max. Part timers, mostly have no idea about the missorts, having arrived on walk only jobs. I think the full timers regard them as more of a hinderance tbh, of course this won't be in all offices.

Rounds are more likely to be even, just that FT are a lot more experienced and ready to graft therefore enabeling them to be able to complete their rounds on time
