Ditching Door 2 Doors

In the past when we got paid for D2D items I noticed that if I left most of mine until the later part of the week they would start to grow in to bigger piles under my frame because some lazy sods were adding their D2Ds they couldn't be bothered to deliver to mine. So I started doing them all at the start of the week but when we stopped getting paid for them and were made part of the workload I make sure I do 20% every day. Thing is extra D2D items are starting to appear under my frame again and I'm getting pissed off with it since I have to hand a crap load of them to the manager at the end of every week, I've explained that I have delivered mine and that these have been dumped but I think he's starting to believe I'm not doing them .

Does this sort of thing happen in other offices and if I catch someone dumping them under my frame should I report them, I don't want to lose someone their job but it feels like I'm being dumped on here

I had the same problem but sorted it out fairly simply.

I get 5 Yorkie labels and write Tue, Wed, Thu etc on them. Then roughly divide my D2Ds into 6 equal piles - Band them with the relevant Card and place them under the frame in a perstop. It seemed to stop fly tipping of D2Ds in its tracks as its too much effort to add them to the bundles and if they don't it stands out like a sore thumb. If any did fly tip I just bung it on the returns Yorkie - I know its not mine so I won't get busted.

No one wants to be known as a "rat" but if some idle shite-bags are attempting to drop you in the cart while keeping their own reputations spotless, then you have little option but to fight fire with fire.
Report any such incidences to your DOM and don't trouble yourself with the consequences. These lazy, inconsiderate barstewards have brought this upon themselves.
Don't beat yourself up because of their laziness!

How can someone be called a back stabber when he/she has had d2d put under their frame making it look like they aint done their bit,Potentially putting their job at risk.
If you see someone do it,Report the bastards,They dont care for you,So treat the lazy sods the same.
We had exactly the same thing happen in our office,Until the manager caught the lazy mare doing it on cctv and sacked her.

It's definitely an issue and has been for years but it will only get worse as the D2D "ramps up".
It amazes me that anyone would be...
A.Stupid enough to put their job on the line in such a dumb-assed way.
B.Stupid enough to risk a colleagues job in such a dumb-assed way.
C.Stupid enough to risk some serious GBH if their colleague catches them before the manager does.

A word of warning to anyone thinking about doing this....it's very easy to get caught,all management need to do is mark your D2D with a UV security pen...and it's almost impossible to dig yourself out of the hole once you've fallen in.

Or when you get your Door To Doors use a certain colour of felt tip pen to draw a line down the side of each stack which will identify yours but just leave a scarcely noticeable mark on the edge of each leaflet or envelope. Tose not marked such aren't yours.

I know it's a dirty tactic but you can see why people do it. I have felt snowed in by the d2ds sometimes, especially as a recent starter. In lieu of any practical help or training on how to handle your d2d workload, it can be very difficult to get them all out and it's horrible feeling under pressure to get them done. I know that every newbie at our office has really struggled most weeks and we're only now starting to get a handle on them. If I get sacked for not delivering all mine ever then so be it. It would be nice, if d2ds are so important, for somebody to emphasise their importance during the recruitment and training stage so that new postmen are better able to integrate the workload into their day. I try my best and that's the end of it. I won't dump d2ds on other people but I will put the ones that I couldn't do on the 'excess' york that we have. If somebody feels affronted by that then that's their prerogative. If they feel sufficiently affronted to turn around and say 'you're fired' then likewise, I feel very much the same way. I would never deliberately withhold d2ds, but even after 11/12 weeks I'm finding it bloody hard. It's one of the main things that I worry about when I'm at home and scrutinising my performance as an employee. I'm not very good with the d2ds, period.

On a similar note, I don't understand how some people consistently get away with not doing any door to door whatsoever, ever, while others are threatened with WD if they don't do any for just a day. I'm sure a few of the lads in my office are in the manager's pocket, they leave all their d2d's and nothing is said, while they make a point of coming to my frame every morning to say "Make sure your d2d go out today!!". One rule for one...

Anyway, In my office there is a suspicious amount of "excess" d2d in the designated york at the end of every week. It's pretty annoying to make sure all your d2d's are prepped and delivered throughout the week, doing your job properly, while others just completely neglect them...and get away with it.

Freakin d2d's- I hate em. But no matter what anyone says, we've simply got to do them, even when you have to go down a long, long drive, only to be confronted by the homeowner asking if you've brought them "something good" and all you can hand over is a wad of junk.
What does get my goat recently though, is working in a sub we get our d2d's in walk bundles, supposedly with the correct amount of d2d's needed for that round. As the day off cover in our office, I know I'm doing my 20% on each round each day, but at the end of the week you can guarantee there will be piles left under the frames. All these are supposed to be returned to the mail centre, where no doubt someone will use it as as proof that they aren't getting delivered. The thing is, no one is sure as hell going to count out every single bundle to make sure the claimed amount is in there to begin with, and sometimes you'll find that people are running out of particular d2d's and have to start scrounging round the office to find enough to complete. Which goes to prove they obviously aren't sending out the coorect amount each week. Because the sub postmaster doesn't want the hassle they've told us to take home any excess d2d's and bin them as they don't want the resposibility! The whole thing is a farce. Are people in our office not delivering their full quota of d2d's? Is the mail centre sending out too many/ too little each week, despite the number claims on the bundles? Are loads of crappy leaflets that no one wants getting printed in there hundreds only to be binned before they've even been delivered? Yes to the last one.
Quite frankly this whole situation is classic RM and just proves what a total bunch of incompetant idiots run the show.
