Packet Deliveries 7-11pm

Posters have been put up in our MC saying that RM are trialling packet/parcel deliveries in some areas,
between 7-11pm, and that anyone who is interested in doing these should speak to their manager.
The poster says that 7-11pm deliveries are being trialled because these are what customers want.
As a customer I would want my mail delivered before I go to work, not at 11pm.

I did packets on OT after my round last christmas (2-6), couldnt see the door numbers after 4pm so often had to park at the bottom of a street that i didnt know and walk up and down till I found the right house. I did about 5 or less packets an hour once it got dark.

How do they expect people to deliver after 10pm, crazy.

Im with you on the hard to see angle they'll need to supply us with a miners helmet mounted torch which could prove handy as we'll be ripe for any nutcase and would be mugger. Some of the walks i do you wouldnt go there in broad daylight unless youre paid to, never mind at night. And as has been said people want their post earlier not stupidly bloody late.

There are estates in London where pizza delivery guys have been killed for a pizza or the
small amount of money they were carrying.
I certainly wouldn't want to be delivering after dark in some areas in London.

Blimey you must work in a posh area doors with numbers are becoming a rarity round here.

I think RM have been looking at this for a while, as people seem to complain about parcels arriving while there at work, think 11pm is pushing it a bit though, as anything after 9pm your going to get yelled at for waking the kids, or frightening old people, but you will probably find RM are trialing this at the request of internet shopping firms.

We have a fair bit of stuff delivered via various couriers and I don't believe we have had anyone whose service was later than 8 pm.

Not being sexist but should a female colleague be out delivering alone at 11pm just as the pubs chuck out?
I wouldn't be comfortable with this at all.
Is this a duty of care issue?

i was told this is for Amazon products and possibly several other big retailers as well and that choice of delivery time is chosen by the addressee at time of buying.
so if that's the time you choose then i hope the person opening the door wont start crying at the postman if he knocks your door at 11pm you no exactly what you could be letting yourself in for if that's the delivery time you choose. :lfo

Choosing a time for delivery anytime between 7am and 11pm if RM management is anything to go by (and not even on the correct day).
