Update on making your day more exciting

Just in case anyone was slightly interested, i have finally completed my "mail fa cup" which i started last august. This was where you pair addresses up and see how many items they got that day. The more items will be the winner etc. Anyway i am pleased to announce that Mrs Pearce at 22 Prince Street pipped Mr & Mrs Collins at 116 High Street 8-6 in the final. The Collins started well with 3 letters to Mrs Pearces 2 but didnt count on Mrs Pearce getting 4 flats and 2 packets, they fought back with 3 flats of their own but it was too little too late. Its been a long hard season and i feel in a way i should let Mrs Pearce know what she has achieved but my wife said to let it go.

Well that does look a bit like me, though my young lady was a little bit older - even so, she was a little concerned that overzealous exertion could prove fatal, ever the gent of course I said "Well if you die my dear you die"

Yeh sure bensonhedge, i could put up this years champion Mrs Pearce against an address of your choice. Pick a day and we will do it but be warned, Mrs Pearce disposed of some pretty tasty opponents on her way to the title. Off the top of my head i particularly enjoyed her tussle with Mr Adams of 7 Warner Road back in January. It was mostly memorable as neither had a letter or a flat but just as it was going to a replay up popped a mis-sorted letter for Mrs Pearce just as i was leaving the office. How we laughed, as i had already told the lads that the result was a draw. Boy did i look silly as i had to tell them next day that Mrs Pearce had sneaked thru in time added on.

As nice as Mrs Pearce is, if i tell her she has beaten 499 other householders to the mail fa cup do you think she will think its weird? Perhaps i could present her with a cup or something made out of the old silver chocolate penguin biscuit wrappers that we used to use when we were kids. I still have one now for my third place in the local Grand National. I say Grand National, It was really 8 kids running down to the local weir and back but it felt like the grand national back then. I remember it fondly as my brother trod in dogs muck and had to rub it off with a leaf which allowed me to sneak into third place. It was that white dogs mess that you used to see in the late seventies. Whatever happened to it? Great memories.
