they should sell the bikes at say 50 quid a go .instead of just scrapping them.and put the money towards paying of the pension deficit...or at least give postal workers the chance to buy

The Bikes are crap, I wouldn't buy one, there only good for going to Asda for a 24 pack in the basket. £50 you can get nearly a new one for that, might consider £10, The Africans love em over there.

Bikes are made by Pashleys...mainly hand built. Not stylish, but heavy duty and generally will last a long time if looked after ,and cost many hundreds of pounds new.

Royal Mail can't be bothered to sell them, too much hassle. By donating them to charity they get to look good in the public eye and they get rid of them without having to scrap them.

I would think,but it's only a guess that they would have an agreement with Pashley's not to sell the bikes on in the U.K.
If you think about it ...if you produced high quality hand built bikes would you want your home market flooded with second hand bikes.

There's nothing wrong with a second hand bike ft, I've had a few in my time and I know someone else who's quite experienced where bikes are concerned

After all the work the bikes do and how long we use them for i would'nt say that they would be worth that much
