Special Delivery Failure

Mate of mine has just phoned me to tell me he ordered a item off E Bay last Monday 16th August, he paid for Special delivery, the item was posted at 3pm on Monday 16th August it never reached him till Wednesday Morning 18th August, he tracked it on Royal Mail website Tuesday and its says its in our system, he tracked again on Wednesday it says its been delivered.
Who can claim the postage back my mate or the person that sent it, The Woman that sent it has the receipt. What is Royal Mail playing at, by the way the correct address and postcode was on it plain and clear.

The person who posted the item makes the claim mate, they're the customer who paid for the service .....

I don't know if that would actually qualify as a failure - anytime I've posted specials, the lady in the P.O. has told me its only guaranteed next day delivery if posted before 2pm

It would depend on what time the PO is emptied, if that office got it's last lift at 2pm then she'd be right, otherwise it's when they get the last lift.

Most Post offices are emptied at 3.30pm and 5.pm. so I won't buy that one..

It's 3:00pm at my local PO, so I suppose it's possible that some have their final collection that early. Although I'd be surprised if it's that early.

Eric's mate is the person who will claim for the postage because that person ordered and paid that item. As you've said you have been putting your correct address and postcode. So it is not your mistake anymore but theirs.

It's happened to me twice with stuff i've ordered. The Special has taken 2 days, but it's been confirmed as delivered the day after posting. I contacted the sellers and told them to claim their money back.
