i asked a few senior guys in work today about evr and did they think i wud get it,, they said no chance, 2 young and they wud be wanting rid older ones, but sure it wud cost more money to get rid of longer service staff? be better to let them retire in good time? dont know... mayb someone will have more info..

I think they want rid of anyone who is full-time, the cheaper the better. I don't know but unless there is some pension benefit to them getting rid long service personel it would make sense.
Despite what people say, everything any company does is about cutting costs and making money. Royal Mail seem to have forgotten that the staff ARE the business. I'm not over exagerating, even when the fully mechanised sorting comes in they will still need willing and competent staff to deliver it and I have a very long memory.
