Coming off Driving Duties

Can anyone help with this one i have a work colleague in my delivery office.. Who does a fare amount of driving duties but he has decided he has had enough of driving..How does he go about getting off driving duties what is the correct procedure for doing so if there is one ? thanks..

just tell him to ask the DOM he has had enough no doubt there will be someone waiting in the wings to change but then you have all the argie bargie in the office about what walk he will get etc,really there is no point him comin off it as when this van share comes in everyone will be a driver so he will be a driver again

Surely you dont have to drive a van if u dont want to ! Was asked by my Dom and i said No.

no mate surley not our dom went around askin who wants van share changeover only about 7 posties said ye i will all the rest said f off not includin the drivers now we have who said ye al drive.if it comes down to pairing up with someone then you might have to drive only if you can that is

You don't but if you can drive and have been driving for RM...and then choose not to you may find after a delivery methods revision that your choices are limited....

Q. What if an individual is unable to drive i.e. no driving licence or cannot drive for health reasons?

A. If there are employees in your unit that are unable to drive you will need to consider what other duty options are available. You may need to accommodate these employees on shared routes as a planned non driver. (There is a limit to the number of non drivers you can accommodate on shared deliveries. It is, therefore, recommended that this is not an option to employees that can drive but choose not to.) You should explore what other opportunities there are to accommodate the individual within your office. If individuals cannot be accommodated in your office, you may be able to accommodate them via a move to another unit within a reasonable distance, where suitable work is available. Where this is not possible an employee may effectively become surplus and in this instance you should take advice from your Regional ER/IR Manager.
