return to work???

hi folks

i posted on a previous thread that i was currently off work with anxiety i will spare you the details,now in this time ive had to attend an interview with dom as to why i was off i have had a few calls from him asking if i know when i will return.they have even offered me a place at a new office closer to home which i have accepted i said the other day i would resume to work next monday(to the new office) pending my condition as at the time of the phone call i felt okish but its got bad again and i feel like ive been a pressured into returning not on any occasion during the phone calls has anyone asked how i was doing just telling me to make a decision on the transfer and when i would be back.if things dont get any better medical wise or worse where do i stand if i end up going back to the gp and he signs me off for longer.

OK, don't transfer to another office, you will feel better in your original office where you know the people and the area, talk to the manager who has been dealing with you and tell them that (you can always get a transfer when you're better).
Keep taking your anxiety/depression meds even if you feel slightly better because you won't really be better.
Make sure you don't spend too much time in the office as being out delivering will help you (you'd be surprised how much exercise actually helps).
Make sure ATOS and your manager put a proper plan in place to help you return to work ie. 2 hours per day for the first week etc.

And remember you will actually feel better when you have something else to do other than sitting around all day worrying about things that you can do nothing about (and in some cases are only in your head).

thankyou dpg that was a very good response from you i think i will still transfer as the office i work in now is quite a distance from where i live and to be honest ive grown a bit sick and tired of the office where i work now gone very downhill a new office fresh start may be what i need.ive only been off for 2 weeks and to be honest im feeling ok about going back have some sort of normality back.ive not spoken to atos they have not called me is that because i have already declared a return to work.all i got the other day when i spoke to dom was see you on monday.im still taking meds i was on them before it went a bit pear shaped gp just increased them slightly for a month or two to get it back under control.

Don't let it get to you wigglywoo it's only a job, and a pretty crap one at that

We've had someone off with stress for nearly a year now so don't worry about a few weeks, just take it easy and good luck

I think a DOM can do a phased return to work on his own but without ATOS assistance they are unlikely to do it off their own back as it is difficult to manage. If you think a phased return is best suggest it to your DOM, and if necessary ask for a referral.

If you are already are in contact with ATOS then talk to them and see if they think its a good idea and go from there.
