The new uniform?

Saw a postman from another office yesterday wearing black shoes, grey trousers, blue shirt and a red fleece. Looked like a tramp to be honest, is this the new uniform they are rolling out?

My office is still in the stone age with the shitty fleeces and purple trousers/shorts, now I know this is far from ideal but looks so much smarter than what this other fella was wearing.

The boys in blue are feeling grey after their 'cheap uniforms faded in the wash.

Police have been ordered to stop cleaning their combat trousers so often after hundreds of pairs lost their colour.

One Greater Manchester police officer said 6,000 uniforms supplied last year were 'rubbish', adding: 'They are very
dark blue, almost black, and loads of them are now more like a shade of grey. We've been told to stop washing them
so often but when you are out dealing with crime they get dirty.

If we turn up for duty in trousers covered in dirt, blood or whatever else you roll around in when catching criminals,
then we get a good talking-to from our sergeant for not looking presentable. We're in a no-win situation.'

Another officer told Police Review that the force had gone for 'the cheap option', adding: 'When our clothing stores were approached about this, they said we should be using a particular type of washing powder - which happened to be the
most expensive.'

Supt Wayne Miller said the clothes were 'the best we can get' and 'certainly not the cheapest'.

Do you think RM are getting our uniforms from the same supplier as the Greater Manchester Police ?

The new uniform is only to be worn when your office has had it's revision (God only knows when it'll be issued though......my guess is 2/3 days after the revision ).

here in watford we have ordered the new uniform in deliveries and are still awaiting a revision, the processing in the same building recieved their new uniforms about 3 weeks ago....trousers are a strange colour....

What numb nut thought that up When was the last time someone in your office was picked up by the DIM for their uniform or lack of? we've got young lads that look as if they're off down town for the night (CHAVSCUM). Might wear the fleece if it's cold.

I buy my own shorts and trousers (Navy Blue!) because the RM one look like Billy Fart Pants and I'd be really grateful if Uniforms would buy decent walking socks as it currently costs me £10ish a pair which I wear out in pursuit of excellence (I never find it though)

Of course it matters what we look like! You may not mind walking round in an inferior outfit, but others take some pride in their appearance.

I agree, that it's going too far, wearing your own clothes. Rather than the uniform we're provided with. But if some choose to do that in order to make themselves look more presentable, then that's their decision. There's no need to start having a go at them. It's not something I'd do. But if someone feels strongly enough, that their uniform isnt sufficienly smart and presentable for them. And of course, if they can get away with it (some Managers are strict about wearing the correct uniform). Then why shouldn't they?

The MC staff at our place have been wearing the fleeces this week and they do look s**t. As for those trousers they do look a bit tight.

The red fleece is a joke it's a throwback to the seventies when Lyons Maid ice cream van workers wore something very similar is it any wonder people are looking twice and three times at the postie and giggling and those trousers my god! in certain lights they can vary in shades, they can look brown, olive green even grey and then we have the sizes some people in our office got sizes that were nowhere near what was ordered....too long ...too short ...too wide and if you are of a bigger build you more than likely were issued with trousers resembling fishermens waders (can this lot get nothing right?) and why change from navy to "charcoal" if thats charcoal then Hitler was innocent...if it aint broke don't f@@k about with it! the new uniform is a joke don't expect to hear anything about DIGNITY& RESPECT from R M when folk start having a pop at you about your new uniform
