The Dreaded Lapsing

In our office we are lapsing nearly every day except Saturday's.
Which I suppose you can is fair enough if it can be done within your normal working hours.
However, the last couple of times I've lapsed I've ended up going over my time, and claimed half hour overtime,
(only for this to be taken off me for finishing early another day)
This came to a head today, because I decided to start doing my job properly, having my meal break, not starting before my start time, etc; by doing this you always finish on your time, so they cannot try to recover this later in the week!
Anyhow, my DOM is now saying I'm dragging my heels, not throwing my walk in fast enough, taking too much time for my break,
after I came in from lapsing I was late for my break, and this caused me to get out late, I could not complete my packets (as I'm on a Van duty) I informed him I do not intend working over, he then informed me if I bring mail back before 14:15 I will face the consequences!! Which is new to me! I thought my last letter was 14:00 It's a if they make the rules up as they go along?

Ask him for the P318 for your duty. I know technically they don't really have them any more but that should give the start/finish times, when you're on IPS etc.

If he confirms that there isn't one, ask him for your duty structure in writing. Just so you're both clear on what you should be doing.

This has NEVER been agreed at any level...it's not flexing,it's not absorbing,it's not even banking hours it's just some managers wet dream and if they ever tried it in our office i would like to think we would have the balls to tell them where they could shove it.
I don't give a sh*t if i finish 7 hours early on a tuesday...that's their problem,i'm not spending the rest of the week paying it back.

How many times on here fish have we seen that posted ffs.What is wrong with theses people.
A cover manager said that to me once that if i finished early i would have to owe them,i told him bollox,you've no chance.

We have been lapsing in our office for the best part of a year now, we have a numptey in our office who comes in an hour early, and throws his walk and the lapsing walk and the D2d's all before his start time...

We should be paid by the kilogram anyway, they'd be bankrupt within a week with the amount of parcels I've been getting. Lazy arse driver never takes any. Anything under 3 kg will get chucked back at me, and if they could somehow fit 5 kg into a 10cm by 10cm cube he'd chuck that back at me as well. F*cking drivers. They have two ways of deciding whether they'll take a parcel. It has to be big AND heavy. My driver hasn't taken a single one of my parcels all week.

Our DOM is new and he's come in all guns blazing, you will bank hours, you will lapse, you will start later etc etc

We all started sorting so slowly it was painful but it had the desired effect, start on time, take your break, do the job properly, after all, that's what RM want, for us to work our hours so start doing it, doesn;t mean you have to do any more work!!!

Just try it for a couple of days, you'll be surprised how much fresher you feel at the end of your shift if you don't rush about like a blue assed fly!

If you get back early on tuesdays go and see your DOM or Lino and ask what else they would like you to do, chances are there will be nothing to do, it's at this point you throw in the 'OK but I need you to know I can't be working over later in the week as I have other committments', then later in the week when asked to flex or work over just say, 'What did I tell you on tuesday'.....smile and walk away, it's just so very satisfying!!!

I'm actually starting to enjoy myself again!

We normally take about 40 houses in our lapsing, but because it was light today the D.O.M said take up to another 20 houses, now they are taking the P**s and that's everyday including Saturday.

When you think about it, this does not happen outside RM, if you work over, you get paid for it,
as you say if you finish early it's up to them to find me more work

When I get more details of the duty times etc; I will post back to this thread
