Is our dom ripping us off?

Post by mondeoman1 »

We currently don't have a union rep and our dom has just changed overtime hours as follows.

Working day out used to get 8 hours, now get 5 1/2 hours and walk thrown in for you.

Used to get 2 hours for 1/4 walk on overtime, now down to 1 1/4 hours.

Are these new overtime rates the norm or is the dom trying to earn himself a bonus off our backs? :no no :no no :no no

From a personal point of view those rates seem pretty fair.

From a RM point of view he is being very generous as I believe they have ruled that from a fair while ago overtime for working your day off you would only be paid for the actual hours you work , and thats how they do it here. Its also why they struggle to get people in.

idsposti put up a similar post 'Overtime' 28th July.

It appears some DOMs are trying it on. It needs everyone in the office to stand their ground and refuse to work their days off for less than the full shift. Any back sliding, any agreeing to the new terms and it will then become the accepted practice. Once it's gone, you'll never get it back.

Overtime payments seem to be a moving feast.

In my DO; 8 hours to work your day off, if you go on IPS. 7 hours if no IPS.

1:15 for quarter walk. 2:30 for half walk. Both if prepped for you

Group together as an office and agree between yourselfs to not do any overtime for a few weeks and as if by magic the hours you used to get will return.

Not a case of ripping off, but working the hours.

What i would do is negotiate. Lets say a its a busy fri and you ask for 1hr 45mins for a 1/4 of a walk. If your dom says no, then no it is and you don't do the work. Value yourself don't under sell yourself.

I don't work my days off or do extra walks due to slashing hours any more, and d2d still has to be done aswell for no extra.

Whilst your at it get the U.S behind Kyoto and solve world hunger, sorry for the sarcasm but the "grouping together" is the problem.

Quite right, I have already suggested this but there are always people that say they need the money and will end up doing overtime for next to nothing.

A new trick by dom this morning was to pay 1 1/2 hours for quarter of duty on overtime for three staff and the lapse the last quarter. :no no :no no :no no
