Are you serious with this post?"Work as directed" i see in your post.That being the case double prepers are "directed" to throw in two walks while the single prepers do the ips.Royal Mails rules not the double prepers.The terms used such as "fuds,clowns,and lowlife"should be "directed" closer to home.I wonder if you would help clear the mail if you were a double preper,if so add "company man" to your list of insults to workmates.Think before posting!!!!!!!!!!!!!

double prep when not on IPS is the norm at my office,no complaints by anyone,if it means we are late out cos of said prep,we cut off or claim O/T ,altho this will change when the rise of the machines occurs

I think you hall missed Jimmys point, i agree with him and have tried to see his point made to my DOM.

We all know double prep and stuff is the future but it's supposed to be an equal work load indoors, the reality is that with so few people on IPS now is the double prepers have thier own walks preped alot faster than the people on IPS, i know i leave the IPS to a full frame of bundles and flats to prep while the double prep guys are almost ready to tie up, it's wrong and not a equal workload.

We get off IPS and take our 15 trays of mech, 8 trays of flats, and 2 packet bags round to our frames, and theyre sat there swinging their legs with nothing to do.

15 trays of mech each? plus more off the IPS?,how long do ye get to prep that?

i know exactly what the OP is talking about, theres one twat in our office that does the same, I swear he was clearing is boxes every 2-3 minutes taking 3 or 4 letters at a time before I lost my rag and said WTF dont you get out of my face and come over here and help us?..he just shrugged ..tosser!!!

What time are they due to finish? All they are doing is volunteering themselves to do lapsing, let the DOM add another 200 or so delivery points to their walks.

Lets say its a very light tuesday with not much mail to sort.You come off ips after say 45 mins.Do you then throw in your walk before going to assist one of the double preps?NO didnt think so!!!

Mate,welcome to the site 1st,now moving on i think you need to read jimmy's post again.You've completely missed his point.

They are not double preppers,they are supposed to prep 1 walk,but what is happening is they are also,instead of chipping in on the IPS when they have prepped a walk they are prepping their own walks.
They should be on the IPS if they have finished.

So jimmy is on the IPS and his 'mates' are prepping their own walks,think about it.

then i just concentrate on that duty for the whole IPS time
if theres no mail then i do IPS till it builds up
then once the IPS is up i go to my frame and work just like everyone else

We have Prep-Prep Duties in our office, they prep the hybrid duties and AG duties. the difference in our office is that no one is allowed to tie up until all duties are preped. you sometimes get the runners trying to pull a fast one but overall everyone works together. seems to work ok.

Thats how we do it as well, although it is rare for us to double prep. It only happens when a round is to be covered on docket.

Everyone should be paid the hours they work no matter what the indoor work entails.

But its unfair that someone to be finished way before their actual finishing time, no matter if they rush around or not. The dom should know what goes about the office, and should deal with issues like these...i think the problem is it won't be resolved and the dom won't take any action because as far as he/she is concerned, the office is running a ok.

I don't look or complain about any of my colleagues that get finished before me, just because i concentrate on my own job get paid the hours and go home. It used to stress me, frustrate me, and annoy me, but its not worth the hassle any more.

Our office has the following, OPGs who double prep, do all the part time/back shift prep, none of them are allowed on their own walks to prep until the IPS is up, if all walks are prepped and there is still a lot of mail on the IPS, some are taken off the walk prep and put on IPS, the rest pick up the walks. No one leaves the office until everything is sorted, inc missorts,
saying that though, we still get muppets who come in early even though there is basically nothing to sort and all they do is hunt through the sequenced trays for their own.
