I don't know about you comrades but some of the post I have read on here about management makes my blood boil.I think it's time for a revolution.

Are we all just going to lie down and let these bastards walk all over us,whilst getting away with murder themselves.Why can't a manager be hauled over the coals for delaying mail for instance.The time has come men and women,stand up to these bullying tosspots and wait and see what happens.Power to the people.

Correct, and anyone can post anti union stuff if they want as long as it does not break the rules. The post I removed did, and if I saw a pro-union one in the same vein I would delete it also.

People can post what they want as long as it does not break the rules, and name calling, hate messages and inappropriate posts/pictures will be removed whether its pro or anti Union, or pro/anti Royal Mail.

I don't know how anyone can be "anti-union". It's not their fault they've been marginalised. Or rather I should say, though it may be their fault, I'm sure they didn't intend it that way. Much in a loveable, Homer Simpson type way, they've bumbled their way past possibilities. Ultimately, that's what big companies do to people who they find to be irksome, and in many ways a nuisance to them. However, I do have to question what has happened to unions. There used to be big, politically-minded unions that would fight hard for their corner, and only give up when the last hands of the last man had been lopped off to prevent them keeping a hold on said corner. I suspect, though this is only conjecture and I apologise if any union sorts out there find this to be overly critical, that unions were once found on bright, driven individuals who could genuinely go toe-to-toe with the kinds of people who run the business world. They were founded on intelligence and gravitas, as well as a hive mind mentality where everybody was fighting for everybody else. The modern world encourages much more independence, and a greater deal of doing what you do for oneself and one's own. Perhaps the unions nowadays lack radical thought, young blood, intelligence, and selfless drive.

Well, I say perhaps. From what I've seen, I feel that they definitely do lack all of these things. Ultimately, all I want from my union is helpful advice, a hand on my back that isn't the same one that was stabbing me five minutes ago, and a bit of backbone to at least present my view to higher powers - even if it is inevitable that said view is dismissed as the thoughts of rabid pondlife (as I'm sure is most often the case). Unions just seem to want your membership now to budge up their takings. They don't even seem very competent at doing that as I've been a member since I started and never yet had the subs taken out of my pay. I guess it's revealing of the complete breakdown of infrastructure when an organisation cannot even take money off you properly.

Taurus whilst I understand why you have posted such a post , why dont you look at it another way , members in the past when the trade union has numbers wanted job security , pensions , sick pay , , and increases in wages.

Most unions have tried hard to deliver all of the above against the worst attacks by succussful governments. The closed shop was ablolished , pension rules meant that employers could attack final saleries. This country did not adopt the safeguards which the rest of europe did which makes it easier for employers to sack over here.

In the Post Office maybe the union has been the victim of its own success , remember we defeat John Majors plans to privitise us in the 1994 , we beat Royal Mail`s attempts in 1996 under the employee agenda to introuduce teamworking which would have led to absorbtion 12 YEARS EARLIER THAN WHEN THEY EVENTUALLY GOT IT under pay and mod.

Even when they got an agreement to introduce one delivery ending the second delivery , job and finish was maintained , the five day week was introduced and staff recieved the biggest pay rise in postal industry was introdcued.

Since 2003 Royal Mail with the aid of the government tried twice to priviatise Royal Mail and have been defeated as a result of CWU led campaigns.

Royal Mail has seen a massive decrease in mail thanks to downstream access and Post Comm. Equally E subsitutuion has led to a significant loss in business to business mail.

Plus whilst we might all argue by how much we all know that letter traffic has decreased. You only have to look at last years summers figure and compare it to this years and it is worrying.

This summers traffic has fallen more than anyone had thought.

Now Iets think where the CWU have gone wrong then ? Do you think it was wrong to capture into workload the only growing product door to door. Yes when it goes to 6 it will be easy to automate but its is still growing and specific day requests will grow it even further.

We have an agreement when very few revisons have been introduced where most on here believe that the agreement would mean the end of the world as we know it. It has not happened , yes some offices may not have the release or have a rogue manager but the engagement process should flush it out providing your office is raising it up.

I am at a loss what people believe the cwu should have argued for, automation and the change in the work plan will change the job for the worse there is no doubting that but the agreement provides protection. I really do believe some posters on here still want to make hours out of the job, get someone else to do your door to door , drive your own car , start when you like before your start time or mantain a full time job when you have a reduced indoor workload and you only want to do a 3.5 hour delivery span.

If thats what you want then you dont want to belong to a trade union you want to book yourself into a nice padded cell .

Most trade union officials do a good job against differcult circumstances if it was so easy some of you non reps would take it up instead of slaging everyone off.
