Conflict of Interest?

Ok, I'm not sure of the official job title, but there's one postie in my office who's tasked with carrying out the DOM's orders, making sure D2D's are done, getting people around to IPS, etc. etc. He's not the "second in command", but just sorta a "head postie". I have it on good authority that he gets an extra 30 quid a week for this job.

Now, he's also out union rep.

Does anyone see a conflict of interest here? He's paid extra to do managerial type work, and yet he's supposed to be on "our side"...

Or is this the norm in other offices aswell?

Sounds like a managerial tactic, probably came with the bullying and harassment package they received. "Keep your friends close and your enemise closer" comes to mind.

I know there's a supplement for office supervisor and work place coach... is he either of these? Both of these are technically above posties and below management.

This is a bone of contention I have struggled with for years
and NO he cannot be a DOM support because if he was he would have to stand

It really is money for old rope. I thought he only got the £33 when a new starter had to be trained. In this case, me. I spent a week with him 5 weeks ago and the previous new starter at our DO was over a year ago. So he's been picking up £33 a week for coaching absolutely nobody.

Oi!!! I'm a workplace coach and I earn my £23.91 or whatever it is I get pro rata!

i have some news for you the workplace coach payment is a skills payment and is not pro rata as Royal Mail would have you believe.
Section 9 on the induction and workplace coach support deals with allowances, and point 9.1 tells that this payment is the full amount now £31.49 pensionable each week on successful appointment to this position no matter what the level of work you take on. (2006 this agreement)
The 2000 way forward agreement that Royal Mail use to argue all allowances are pro rata is dated and was 5 or 6 years before the introduction of the workplace coach so has no realavance.
Take out a disagreement against them and get all the money owing to you back dated.

I don't think he's a work-place coach (as I haven't seen him talk to a newb once, myself included...), so maybe an office supervisor?

He's also in an hour and a half early every morning... w****r.

But anyhow, can you be office super and rep at the same time?
