on sick leave

had a problem with my foot for the past week, but it got worse yesterday so went to a&e. had xray and was told i have a stress fracture of the 5th metatarsal. i am on crutches because i cant put my foot down without being in pain. told to stay off it for next five days then go to gp and see where to go from there. rang office this morning to tell them, and manager says cant you come in and throw round off and just take half of it out. i said yes i will once the doctor says i can go back to work. put the phone down and two hours later another manager rings me to ask what have i done. told him, he then says sure you cant come back to work i said no. he then starts going on about how we have to many people off sick in our office and they are thinking about transfering all the ones who are on light duties to mail centres. and that if i stay off to long i will be on a stage warning. its only been a day and the fun and games have started

no point in him taking the return to work then - as his mind's made up - you WILL be on a stage warning!

best tell your rep what dom said!

Send in a sick note that will tell him when you will be back at work, if he rings asking when will you be back tell him the sick note is self explanatory and don't answer any phones to him, other than that the harassment comes in to force. bet he never asked you every day before your foot went, how are you

I need to. Been off sick for a while and only spoken to them once. Need to know what happens in a week or two if I'm still off.

Go into work, take a club hammer with you, drop it on the DOMS foot which will hopefully break his metatarsal. Ask him if he fancies doing a couple of hours walking with similar pain to that which you are in. Your injury has been caused by the job, i think a stage warning is inappropriate, may be covered by AOD, certainly dont accept any warnings without a fight. Good luck rest your foot untill it is properly right, dont be rushed back.
No wonder there is so much sick leave, when this job puts alot of strain on you physically
