IHR or so they thought so.

Post by Supersonicvandriver »

A friend of mine at work has just been ill health r. or so THEY thought so. They rang up wages to ask how many weeks holiday pay they would get back and wages said you are on holiday this week!! LOL so the manager has put them on holiday for a week instead of the sick as the are pushing the IHR too quick. Is this wrong or what. There boss and the dsm want sacking the penny pinchers.

I would guess so as if you are on sick with a doctors note then you get your holiday entitlement back.
TBH i can see more health retirements in the future with imo longer deliver spans, or people who need to use bikes still due to dda requirements etc.
I can see rm saying all staff must use vans as a pair which takes care of packets bigger deliveries/d2d's and transportation out. This will also imo give rm scope to increase outdoor hours when sorting machinesget up to speed.

None

4 periods of sickness or a total exceeding 14 days in a rolling 12 month period (and combinations thereof) will start you on the various stages leading to dismissal. Less if you have been at RM less than 12 months.

If you get a stage warning, do you lost it 12months from last day of sickness, or from when you received the warning even if it was 3 weeks after you came back to work?

Do you know I have never had a definite answer to this question, but my manager is very good on this and we get our RTW interview on the first day back and the stages issued on that day as well.

What really annoys me is that RM count Sundays as sick days.
Just spilt stain-remover down my shirt. Now how do I get that out?

The 12 months usually start from after the interview, now before everybody starts getting shirty there is a good reason for this.
All absences up to and including the day of the interview will be included in the overall review of absence for that stage and will not count towards the next stage of the procedure.
If you backdated it to the last day of absence that triggered say...a stage 1 you could conceivably walk down the stairs from your stage 1 just to turn around and go back up for a stage 2.....and we don't want that now do we?
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

PLUS side also is, when you know that stage is coming you can go sick again and it will be included in that stage and not carried through to the next one - not that anyone would do that of course BUT it is a handy little hint. I mean if you were pretty sure you were going to get a stage anyway ...................... you could say it was taking advantage of the system but - hey RM are past masters at that.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

It wasn't intentional I might add. I think they were just trying to catch up with all the absences I'd had last year (for reasons I'd rather not discuss on here) and before they got the letter to me inviting me to an interview, I was off again with something else.

Was all their fault though. Shouldn't have pressurised me after my AOD and allowed 2 certain someones to treat me the way they did.
