So who's actually doing this then? Doesn't need to be 100% but try to give an indication of how it's going.

Southend (of course)
Watford (?)
Burslem (?)
South Devon (?)

and your title says you're a university IT worker, what's your connection to posties, or are we some kind of study to you

Actually he is showing as a lot of support Billy (check out his other posts) and despite what Al and Adam say he is the reason we do our jobs.

and Catch I think most on here are probably doing their 318 on an individual basis so it will be hard to gauge who else is on an office by office basis, although POSTMANS office is

hey I'm not knocking the guy, it's just that very few people who have no connection to Royal Mail show this kinda interest in how we're doing things, guess I'm just a bit nosey to find out why and perhaps if something has got him interested we can use that same thing to interest others.

If his question is how many people are working to their 318 then in our office, not many, but it's catching on fast as people see the benefits

Mate im the same when i see any Students or people from Outside the business asking Questions as i dont trust anyone.... Wrongly or right its just how ive been brought up!!! When a few people come on asking for info its a fine line between telling them openly and honestly or staying MUM and not a word.... YOU NEVER KNOW????

There's nothing sinister about Catch. I've read his stuff on another internet forum and he's always on the side of the workers.

billypants - the link is in my signature, but I help run a site called libcom.org - the main thing we do is try to publicise current (and past) workers struggles. I've only been in my current job (which is IT support, not research, not that it matters, and I'm not a f***ing student!) for three weeks, before then I got my old job at a sixth form college organised both informally and with Unison. A few of us on libcom are in the public sector and have the same pay deal as RM (but no sign of strikes for a month to six weeks at least) - so for us whether you win or lose is very important. So I want to 1. show my support 2. try to get a genuine idea of how things are going - in the details of people's workplaces rather than Royal Mail or CWU press releases.

I started the thread because I think a generalised 318 is going to win this dispute more than the one day or rolling strikes will (or at least the one dayers won't work without people doing their 318) - and a few offices seem to be doing it quite solidly (Southend etc.). There doesn't seem to be an overview anywhere on here, but I understand you'd be wary of a random person starting a thread asking for information about it, maybe that wasn't such a sensible idea.

The worst thing I'd do as a result of posting here is is a round up of events for an article for libcom (which'll appear at http://libcom.org/tags/royal-mail ) - nothing more nefarious than that.

OK I meant office by office. I didn't know what a 318 was until a couple of weeks ago so maybe I've just got over-excited

i agree with TBT im working to my 318 but as ive said its slowly gaining momentum in my office but we will never be 100% in my opinion
to my fellow workers in north devon prove me wrong

Played a round of golf with A couple of Streatham lads(London sw16)yesterday and they started to work as 318 on Friday.

peterborough 100% solid and doing the job properly! stick together and work those 318s. we all take meal relief together on masse 150 in the canteen at 07.40 regardless of being ready for delivery or not. 100 pouches back today! solidarity will win the day and the good will has gone.

No, no. Frosty receptions are good. We get people sniffing on libcom all the time (mixture of journos and BNP types), and I'd worried if you weren't all a bit wary given how many managers and others are lurking.

That's nice to hear. We're getting about 2-3000 hits from google per month for royal mail/postal strike searches, and we're trying to plug RMC where we can. Might have a leaflet out in a little while if we can get our arses into gear.

POSTMAN: that's a lot of offices. Seems to be going pretty well!

I learnt about the rmc site from libcom, and thanks for putting me on to it

I do find your reporting of industrial disputes quite helpful, but the political discussions are a bit difficult to understand.
Your contributors seem to be rather intellectual and utopian, but good luck to them. I suppose it's good to be idealistic.
