worrying and persistant rumour

There is a rumour going round my office (Reading) that RM have had to go to the goverment to ask for an emergency loan because they are unable to pay the wages beyond the next 2 weeks. it started last Wednesday , I dismissed it at first because I thought the news networks would surely get hold of it and if there was substance then surely it would be a nationwide rumour rather than just local, nothing on the news on nothing on these pages yet.
but today the same rumour resurfaced again, I am a firm believer that there is no smoke without fire..can any BMs confirm if they have heard the same alarming talk or is it just some idiot sh*t stirrer taking balls?

There may just be some substance to it....how much and just how bad it is might be where the chinese whispers come in.
Everyone on both the senior management side and the senior union side will deny it but unless i've suddenly moved to Reading the same rumour surfaced on the same day in an office hundreds of miles from you.....go figure.

i'd guess = if it was true - the managers would be letting on, as they are on bigger wages and [bigger] bonuses !

so they'd be pretty p*ssed off !!

Dont know if its relevant but I know that our DOM has been instructed that from this week onwards there is to be no overtime paid out under any circumstances.

Even if it is true i would imagine it's more about short-term cash flow than the business going to the wall.
However....and i know i'll get shot down for this....in my opinion it's the quietest summer period for a long,long time.

mondays and Tuesdays are the lightest I can ever remember right now..I just been on the phone to wages and they confirmed the the S/A payments will definately be paid this week.

Has anyone tried contacting the Mirror ... they are pretty up to date and reliable when it comes to RM news & business ... they always seem to find out before us lol :lfo
