Throughout the ages people have had to go to extremes to get thier message across. Have we to go the same way before the two As come to thier senses, ie femals had to chain themselves to railings to get the vote, More to the present fathers had to wear costumes and climb various buildings, or storm the houses of parliment and throw powder to get attention to their cause. IS this the way we have to go to get attention. NO im not a NUTTER [ L TOMMO ]. Just trying to get some reaction. but id love to see some of my workmates dressed up in a batman suit storming stormont shouting POWER TO THE POSTIES, then getting arrested and banged up for a few nights. GOOD PUBLICITY I THINK. But seriousely could it come to this.

Perhaps at the next picket line we should all have someone dressing up as the 2 A's waving a big stick and beating Posties invite local press and TV and we would be bound to get a mention.

Or perhaps like a photo on another thread all wear masks.

On a serious note I don't think we have to do anything too extreme yet as we may shoot ourselves in the foot. However if this drags on for months then perhaps we can have a day of action in the middle of a 3 dayer where every postie who can meets and marches on the House of Commons or something. A bit like the Countryside Alliance march.

TBT thats a good idea, on one of the next strike days instead of picketing our offices, organise a mass rally from all over the country to march on parliament with a petition for Brown to ask him what hes doing to bring RM back to the negotiating table, that would give us mass media coverage, and might embarrass the goverment...UNITY IS STRENGTH.

Yes - get back to work ASAP. Let's face facts - hardly anybody in this country gets a pay rise at the rate of inflation and the fact of the matter is it's no good for our or any other economy to do so. Modernisation HAS to happen, most other industries in the country have been through this already but unfortunately (or fortunately whichever way you look at it) RM have been shielded from this for many years while they had a monopoly. If RM is going to be such a terrible place to work in the future why don't people just leave now instead of dragging things down for everybody else?

You might be able to do things which make people notice you but will they be sympathetic when they are in, or more likely have already been through, the same situation as you?

If you can point to any of the original 22 strings that could be called Modernisation or an improvement of our T&Cs I would be downright amazed. IMHO the pay offer is a pay cut, we do a hard job already and they want us to work longer, with more weight, for less pay. If I am wrong please point out where.

As I don't believe I am dragging down things for everybody else but that I am trying to protect everyone's T&CI'll stay thanks. I am trying to stop the senior management of Royal Mail making it worse for me I am sorry if that's a selfish point for view.

mightyboosh, have you actually read the pay deal, because if you had then you would see that even if you disregarded the 22 strings attached to the deal, its going to be a 3.5 pc wage reduction if you take off the early start allowance, so in actual fact you will be 1pc worse off in your wages, i suppose you think management awarding themselves huge bonuses is good for the economy, we are not against modernisation, but it should be done through consutation with the CWU, and RM hasnt been shielded from modernisation, the goverment took 90% of the profits for 20 years, RM chose not to modernise and the goverment werent bothered and when it did have the money to modernise it wasted it on buying companies all over the world and selling them at a loss, a goverment agenda ment to force RM into privatisation, you sound like a new starter because you obviously dont know what your talking about, and like TBT i choose to stay if you dont mind, if anybodys dragging this company down its people like you...UNITY IS STRENGTH.

Your quick to say "GET BACK TO WORK," Like its OUR fault that we have to vote YES to action and lose Money for ourselves.. But 77% of posties Voted for this and it is a democratic vote so when you spout. just had a look at your other posts and I'm guessing you're one of our colleagues who feels okay about crossing the picket line and collecting your dirty money. If I'm right then please do tell us why you feel that the 98% who walk out each week don't understand what's going on and are just wasting our time. . . . . come on tell us what it is we're missing because I, like thousands of others, have read both sides of the arguement and still believe we're standing up for what's right.
