Customer Email query

Post by POSTMAN »

Received this in my emails today,i've put them right and also recommended a keep safe...
My mail seems to be delivered into our post box by a number of different entities, Royal Mail, TNT post and UK MAIL. We are going on holiday and wish our mail to be re-directed will it all be re-directed if we only apply and pay through Royal Mail.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I am not surprised by this

But at least they noticed the difference. If it was a TNT or City Link parcel doorstepped in the rain we would get the blame straight away.

Saw the words "Keep Safe", and having seen the word "Safeplace" on the back of the P739 I wonder if someone could advise ... I've been on my walk now for 4 weeks (i.e. I've been employed for 6 weeks  ) and have a number of addresses that are forever receiving packets ... and I already know there's never going to be anyone at home to receive them.

There are a couple of houses that have 'unofficially' told me to "leave it with No 17" etc but .... Is there some kind of official "advice card" that could be put through doors that would point out to the customer that they can set up some kind of "safe place" where packets could be left (neighbour, behind the bread bin etc) ???

It would save them having to hike down to the local DO to pick up ... and (more importantly) would make my life easier as well ...

"Keep Safe" is when someone pays Royal Mail for their post to be retained at the Delivery Office while they are away on holiday.
"Safeplace" is somewhere undercover and out of sight, like a greenhouse, where you leave parcels when someone is out, advising them of this on a P739.

So ... is there an "advice card" ... or is the "Safeplace" option sorted out unofficially with a chat to said customer ?

... if you ever see the accursed customer ...

I think they write a letter to local d.o. to advise where to leave it.

Don't go down the "safe place" route with your customers it really isn't worth the pain especially after only 6 weeks in the job.
A "safe place" is only safe if no-one sees you put it there and then it's "you didn't leave it" and it's your word against the customers and it can get very messy...i don't even "safe place" tracked items and i don't care who it p*sses off,i won't put my job on the line to save somebody a trip to the callers.
Just P739 them and move on.

If they put it in writing to the D.O.M. and the letter is then kept in the walk log then safeplace is OK. I think it also says designated neighbour, so, once again, the customer needs to let us know in writing who/where they've designated.

Would you encourage your customers to do this?

That's what RM want... Covers your back... but we all know that if a customer claims something wasn't received, regardless of whether they've signed something to say it's OK for us to leave it somewhere, we'd still get a b*ll*cking for leaving it there.
