shift allowance
I have been working for royal mail for 4 1/2 years and my contracted hours are 17.40 - 21.40 , I have only just found out that i should be getting a shift allowance which i have not been getting, does anyone know how much it should be and will i be back dated from when i started,

The shift allowance for late attendance (a shift which finishes between 2140-0159) is £36 a week I think.
But if you are part-time it would be pro-rata, so I think you would only get half.
And it should be backdated to when you started the attendance.

they are saying that i should fill out a HR 17 form, i phoned sheffield and they have said that i would be entitled to the higher rate because my shift ends at 21.40 and that this is there problem because usually they would have my shift finishing at 21.39, i understand it will be prorata but they are stalling and i now have the union involved, but i dont keep wage slips so i cant prove anything (my fault i know). how else can this be proved from there side, . i have been signing my sheet for over 4 years now 17.40 - 21.40,

HR would have what allowances you have or have not been paid.

Well that's the best way to deal with this.

The signing on sheets must be kept for a certain period of time (not sure how long), but I expect
your CWU Rep can find out and get hold of them.
