FT/PT Ratio

Was just wondering what the FT/PT ratio was in the police,fire& health services.
Is it just RM obsessed with having a PT workforce in public sector.

So PT jobs are a good way of massaging the figures and keeping the unemployment numbers down.
Surely not, the big rise in PT work is down to adapting to peoples needs nowadays, nothing to do with corporate greed or goverments trying to con the people

No apparently its a national target not a local one. This week my section is 75/25 - but the wrong way round.

No it's a national thing not office by office or area by area

It was always pie in the sky and meant for one area only, most offices outside of London were already below 75FT/25PT percentage ratio and was never going to be brought to the "national" average - the only reason that any check and balance will be made, and I seriously doubt it is at all possible to maintain it, is to keep full time jobs in you know where - the only snag being of course is that they represent less than a fifth of the workforce in deliveries................

so who is policing the 75/25% ratio nationally the cwu
the way its going you might need the fbi
we were told today if we dont plan for 4-4.5 hr duty spans in cdv we would all end up pt due to wsm
so wheres the choice of what type of span to go for and we havn,t heard back about the1 in 4 sat off options its begining to look like previous agreement and pusue only the parts rm want . it is no way a joint agreement locally or nationally

ITS ACTUALLY 60/40. THE FINAL FIGURE THEY WANT YOU TO GET AT IS 75/25 BUT YOU CAN BET IT WILL BE MORE LIKE 50/50

Possible example of Royal Mail's plan to implement 75% - 25% FT-PT Ratio:-

Office currently has 100 employees with ratio of 60 - 40 FT - PT

WSM revision is rolled out:-

20 PT staff take VR/transfer to Auchtermuchty/get p***ed off & leave coz they realise they'll NEVER get a FT contract (delete as applicable)

IWT miraculously shows how previous part time hours can easily be absorbed by remaining staff....

et voila 60 FT & 20 PT staff. A ratio of... you've guessed it 75% - 25%!
