HI ALL SINCE LAST CWU AREA MEETING WE WHERE ADVISED TO START A GATE KEEPER SYSTEM WHERE SOME ONE NOTES ALL BOXS AND YORKS OF MAIL AND PKTS OFF THE LORRYS INTO DO AND THEN USING THE TRAY FILL NUMBERS THE ONES I GOT ARE 216 LETTERS PER BOX 81 FLATS PER BOX AND 190 PKTS PER YORK GET THE REAL COUNT AGAINST THE MAIL CENTRES COUNT WELL WHAT CAN ONE SAY !!!! I AM BEGIN TO THINK THEIR ARE EMPLOYING THE UNDER 5S IN OUR MAIL CENTRE BECAUSE OVER THE LAST 5 WEEKS THE REAL COUNT AGAINST MAIL CENTRES COUNT HAVE BEEN 1000S OUT IN OUR FAVOUR WHICH HAS THE KNOCK ON EFFECT WITH THE INDOOR WORK TOOL MAKING IT A WASTE OF TIME !! MY NEXT RESOURCE MEETING SHOULD BE FUN !!!

We have been counting mail into the DO for months now because the DIRT Report (sorry dont know what this stands for) produced by the mail centre which is supposed to record all your DO`s traffic has been woefully innaccurate and it still is. As the IWT is totally reliant on these figures it is paramount that the traffic figures are as accurate as possible. I still have reservations about the ACF`S (average container fills) that RM are using as these were changed (reduced) in March this year in my region. I would be interested to hear from anybody who has the AFC`S from their region to see if they differ, region to region.

sorry best i could quicky come up with, as you know the figues mail centres come up with determine what savings DOs can make, the whole system is a bloody joke amd fixed to fook us over.

I agree, everyones figures will be wrong in favour of RM but we have to constantly challenge this and other issues and by manually checking mail in, these revised counts can and are being used at my DO, to populate the IWT. We cannot just sit back and moan about the inaccuracies and injustice, it is a constant battle. This forum is an excellent place to collaborate and share information up and down the country. My next challenge is going to be the amounts used in the ACF`S (average container fills). If other regions can find out what they are using we can ensure nobody is being shafted without them knowing. We should all be using the same figures.

RM traffic figures are a total farce. We counted our mail for about 6 months (number of trays of flats/letters and yorks of packets) and every day without exception we had more than the MC figures suggested. On a few occasions we had almost double

sorry about the upper case ! you don't count the each letter! you multiply trays by tray fill numbers on these numbers i thought there where national used numbers if most of us have notice the difference it will make a big difference in the iwt and as every thing is based on these numbers we must start to stand our ground against doms, or the agreement as bad as it is even worse than we think . ive found full stop button now where does it go !

Good theory but 5 kg of insurance docs are many more than 5 kg of saga mags etc.

Allthough if you weighed everything. Easy to do by the york!
you could say say something predictive about the average weight per postman.

and you could compare total weight week against week,
and if everything was counted week one then you you predict item numbers by a % drop in weight say.

Welcome to the club - it's the way of the future (I think it's something to do with the FSM but I'm sure one of the MC posties can give an explanation).

If the barcode printed (either direct onto the item or onto a white label) is in black in then it's an item that has gone through a FSM. MCs which have them even put small packets through them which still have to get sorted manually as packets at the other end. For inward MCs any letter even if mechable that has been through an FSM has to be sorted manually or go through a machine on "image lift" mode as LSMs and MTTs can't read the barcodes from FSMs. I don't know if iLSMs or IMPs can read the barcodes from FSMs
